Situé à Kansas City, le JJ's est l'un des plus anciens restaurants indépendants de la ville exploités sans interruption. Ouvert en février 1985 à l'ouest du Country Club Plaza, il est maintenant installé entre la 48ème et Roanoke, dans le nouveau bâtiment Polsinelli. Le stationnement couvert est gratuit. Le sondage Zagat évalue le JJ's comme « l'un des meilleurs restaurants de Kansas City ». Il a obtenu cette distinction avec un menu américain contemporain incluant notamment les crevettes Paco - une entrée très appréciée, des plats de fruits de mer et le favori perpétuel, le JJ's Pride, connu comme l'un des meilleurs steaks de la ville. La plupart des ingrédients sont d'origine locale pour assurer la fraîcheur. Service and food was exceptional. The owner stopped by twice to check on us. That was a very nice touch on service.

We waited over an hour to get our bread and wine. We ordered a bottle multiple times and it never arrived so we decided against it after waiting so long. Finally received bread right around the hour mark. We’d also placed food orders about 20 minutes into the visit that came 75 minutes after being there. They were not full so it was a bit bizarre and things seemed very chaotic. The food was pretty good though so it was a bummer we couldn’t enjoy the overall experience. Not sure I’d go back due to the service.

Ambiance was great as always but service was uncharacteristically slow and our order was incorrect. Disappointing evening compared to our usual experience at JJ's. Maybe better for a week day happy hour than a weekend dining experience.

Kennedy greeted us when we entered. She was delightful. She asked if we were celebrating anything and we let her know that my wife was celebrating her birthday. She let us know that we should choose the chocolate cake or the carrot cake which were her favorites since my wife would get complementary for her birthday. Our server took our drink order. We ordered Bloody Marys, and I asked for as much garnishes as they had for the drink. The drinks came out with two olives each and our server explained they didn't have much to put on it so she gave us each one pimento stuffed olive and one blue cheese stuffed olive. The drinks were very small. The phyllo wrapped brie and roasted garlic appetizer looked and tasted very good. My wife ordered two lobster tails and the poached pear salad. I ordered the rack of lamb with brussels sprouts as the side. My wife got her salad first, and after only about five minutes, both entrées arrived. When the entrées arrived, there was a strong fishy smell at the table. By the time, my wife finished her salad, her lobster was cold. I tasted her lobster and spit it out. It was on the edge of being spoiled When I saw rack of lamb on the menu, I assumed it would be more than three lamb chops. Every other place I've ever ordered rack of lamb it has been. I ordered the lamb medium-rare and it came out medium to medium-well. The celeriac purée was more like a sauce. There was no body to it at all. The brussels sprouts were unremarkable. The server only came back to refill water at the end of service after my glass had been empty for half the meal. She brought the check and never offered the complementary dessert for my wife's birthday. After being my wife's favorite special occasion restaurant for years, we won't be back. The restaurant being half full is now understandable. All good things must come to an end.

Excellent service. Great waitstaff. Very welcoming, seated early. Food was fabulous. Comped the dessert for our friends who were celebrating their anniversary. Everything was top notch.

I made a reservation on Open Table for an inside table. When we arrived they said the only thing available was the patio. I am sure due to the heat everyone wanted to come inside. They gave us no options but stuck us on the patio at a dirty rod iron table. The service was poor and the food was average. I ordered my steak med rare and it was medium well. This used to be one of the best restaurants in Kansas City. Maybe my expectations were too high.

Not our first experience at JJ's and won't be our last. I always appreciate the level of knowledge from staff and their impeccable timing and rhythm. The food is was superb and the wine was fantastic!

Great way to celebrate birthday with a wonderful dinner. Our waiter Chris was very attentive, friendly, and great to chat with. Food was very good and memorable way to celebrate a milestone birthday.
