Truly nothing compares to a white table cloth restaurant with martinis and steak. Chatting for 2.5 hours. Loved every second. Came because of POOG, stayed because it’s delicious and fancy!

Terrific attention to service and truly listening to the guest. For me the big down side was that there were several diners who did not respect the dress code, most notably a man who can in full gym gear - shorts, gym shoes, ball cap… it was disrespectful to the other guests and the restaurant which clearly states the dress code. Personally, I do not want to see your sweaty hairy arms and legs next to me at the table. At the very least, take off your hat. And if you’re reading this and you don’t get it — you just don’t get it.

This was my first time here and it was a great experience. The service from the entire staff was great. All of the food was delicious and so were the drinks. The Jar Fries and the char su pork were my 2 favorite

The best kept secret in town! Ever item is a home run, there is no better staff in the city, and the ambience is unbeatable. Cannot recommend enough!

The food at JAR is superb, plus excellent value for the quality. It’s also an “easy” restaurant, very comfortable, yet beautiful and modern and a place you can dress up if you want (we did). We were 4 people, had the pork chops (fave meal there for my husband); French fries (the Yummiest, skinny and crisp and thick dusting of real parsley), skirt steak with creamy horseradish sauce - a bit chewy but good flavor; filet mignon with roasted onion and green peppercorn sauce - delicious, duck - not my thing, but the man who ordered it ate it all up; a special tempura squash blossom and shrimp appetizer with ponzu sauce - we lapped it up; the spring greens veg - I get it every time; creamed corn - I didn’t try, but it was all gone too; decaf cappuccino - xlnt and strong; chocolate pudding - dark chocolate, 8/10 my husband said, he ate it all; chocolate sundae - all gone too. Talked to Suzanne, the famous chef and owner, friendly and approachable. Parking is free on or across the street, the valet is gone, yay. One of our favorite restaurants in LA.

My first experience of Jar was when I had time to kill before a reservation at a nearby restaurant that didn't have a full bar. I wanted to enjoy a cocktail and some quiet time with a book before my dinner, and Jar just happened to be the nearest option. I was struck by the ambience the moment I walked in and was given a friendly greeting by the staff. I sat at the bar and ordered the Naughty Martini (love the blue cheese olives.) The couple next to me at the bar soon received an order of the onion rings, and when I commented that they looked amazing, they insisted that I try one. I was right. They were amazing. The two next to me were planning their wedding, and meeting the parents of one of them. When the parents arrived, it became apparent that they were regulars. They told me how Jar was one of their favorite restaurants, that they'd been coming for years, and they pointed out several of their favorite items on the menu, so I knew I was going to have to come back. I also noticed the chef (who I now know is the owner, Suzanne Tracht) standing at the bar for a bit, chatting with a patron, before she spent time going to several tables in the dining room, checking on things with other diners. I was sad when I had to leave to go to my dinner at the other restaurant, because I wanted to just stay there to dine. I've now been back three times, and I'll keep going, to work my way through the menu. So far, for main courses, I've had the signature pot roast (fantastic) and two specials, a porterhouse, shared with a friend, and diver scallops, both wonderful. The crab deviled eggs are now a favorite of mine, as are the gem salad and the wedge. (Unlike every other wedge I've had, this one had enough blue cheese!) For sides, they are all terrific, but the creamed corn is a particular favorite. And as for cocktails, the Naughty Martini is wonderful, but I highly recommend the newly added "Not a Negroni."

Jar is an old favorite of mine. I used to go there often but not in recent years. I went there last night and am happily reunited and recall why I liked it so much in the past. The service was excellent and the food was outstanding. I had the soft shell crab and halibut. Tge Fries, deviled eggs. and Steak were all perfect. I will be back soon..
