A seed-to-fork dining experience inside Southall Farm + Inn in Franklin Tennessee.

Southall’s signature restaurant, January, brings the spirit of our pursuits across the farm together – the mindfulness that drives biodiversity in what we produce, a reverence for the cycle of life that inspires sustainability, and our desire to share the bounty.

The January experience, with its thoughtful creativity and leisurely, high-touch nature, bends with the harvest, promising a novel and unexpected meal with each visit.

It is, quite simply, the culmination of our dream…dinner, as it should be.

Absolutely fabulous! A beautiful setting in the hills of Franklin,TN. The food, service and atmosphere were exquisite. Can’t wait to go back!

I recently dined at January and overall had a pleasant evening. The food was absolutely delicious, with each dish perfectly prepared and full of flavor. The ambiance of the restaurant was fantastic—both the space and table settings contributed to a warm, inviting atmosphere that made the evening feel special. Service started out strong and attentive, with our server being quick and responsive during the first part of the meal. However, things took a noticeable turn once we received our main courses. After that, we struggled to get attention for simple things like having our water glasses refilled or ordering additional drinks. It felt like the staff became less attentive as the night went on, which was disappointing given how great the experience had been up to that point. Despite this, we still had a very nice evening, though the service drop-off in the middle to end of the night was a bit of a letdown. With some improvements to the consistency of service, it would have been a perfect dining experience.

Even if a restaurant has the best food, the server can really make or break a night out for dinner. And our server, Barrett, at January did not disappoint. He was friendly, warm, attentive, and knowledgeable. He made our dining experience fun. Every dish we tried was incredible. We didn’t want the flavors to end. We would recommend January to everyone! We cannot wait to come back to Southall for the amenities, and especially the culinary aspect. The food is top notch! This will be one of the most memorable meals we have ever had. Thank you!

Unfortunately, January was probably a one-and-done for us. Pros: The setting was gorgeous - though we couldn't stay outside and enjoy the patio for long because bees were swarming around us The waitstaff was very friendly Meals were beautifully presented Cons: The scotch sour we ordered was very weak - not good at all Although service was friendly as mentioned above, it was very slow, despite the dining room being less than full. We did not really enjoy our food - and this is entirely subjective, of course. I ordered the Short Rib and my wife the Porterhouse. My Short Rib was so fatty I could barely eat any of it and I wasn't a fan of the green curry glaze. My wife's strip was enormous - as are all their cuts of steak. She's used to being able to order a petite filet, so ordered the strip as it was one of the "smaller" cuts available, and she just wasn't a fan compared to a filet. (19oz bone-in at $8 per oz) We also ordered the Upstate Potato side and the Parker House rolls w/honey butter. The Potato dish was very interesting - pretty good compared to the mains. And we loved the rolls w/the house made honey butter. All in all - we dropped $500 between our meals, drinks, and tips to the bar staff & valet, which we would have been fine with had we thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

January is a beautiful, stylish restaurant in a magical setting. The service is friendly and attentive. Our server, Barrett, was just a doll - excited and knowledgable about the food and so welcoming, as was the young man who brought and explained each dish. What prevents me from giving it 5 stars is that it's soooo noisy. All of the wonderful huge windows which offer such a beautiful view of the meadow, unfortunately serve to provide more hard surfaces along with the lovely rocky walls and there's not much to absorb the sound. Hoping they'll get that worked out. The food is beautifully presented and interesting. We loved the Parker rolls, zucchini and the Char was tender and delicious in a yummy sauce.

As local Nashvillians we were so surprised by all that has been put into it to make the Southall experience so amazing. January is the icing on the cake. We had great food, a stunning setting and amazing service at the more formal of the two restaurants at the resort. We will most definitely be bacl
