We made a reservation indicating that we were coming to celebrate my wife’s birthday. When we arrived no one was attending the door and we waited to be seated for quite a while. Finally we seated ourselves and eventually a waitress came along to take our order. The food was well prepared and delicious. We also ordered dessert, a chocolate tort, which was very good as well. The restaurant didn’t recognize in any way that it was a special occasion for us. Nevertheless the restaurant was a nice place for a good meal.

We’ve been to Jane Bistro many times, usually for lunch because they have great salads as entrees. This was an outlier experience for sure, but very disappointing. The restaurant was busy, but there were several people waiting for tables. We waited patiently, but when our time came, things started falling apart. Instead of taking us to a prepared table on one side of the restaurant, she took us towards a table that had not been bussed. When she saw that, she said give me a few minutes to clean the table. Cleaning was her moving dirty dishes from our table to another dirty table beside it. Before she could seat us, she was interrupted by complaining patrons regarding lack of attention or service. While we were still standing, two women were leaving and told us, “don’t stay. The service is terrible.” They told us it took more than an hour for their meal. While the hostess was dealing with complaining patrons, and as the line at her counter grew longer, we decided to leave and abandoned the chaos. I hope this was a one off bad day for Jane Bistro. We like the place and hope we’ll find the reason to return in the future.

This is the second time we’ve tried to eat at Jane’s and experienced just not enough staff. We were seated and the table next to us was piled high with dirty dishes. Just not appetizing. We waited about 10 minutes and no one came to our table to even give us water. You could see what staff they did have were working as fast as they could. We decided to leave. Too bad because the food is so good!

Service was slow and non-attentive. Food took over 30m to arrive and it was hard to get the server to come over.
