We were delighted to return to the "Old Neighborhood" to commemorate a special occasion. Our server, Merissa(sp?) was very attentive and professional, as was the busboy. The food/beverages keenly matched the perfection of service, not just in visual appeal, but also in quality and refined taste. Our afternoon lunch experience across from where my kids romped around during the annual NY Philharmonic concerts; attended historical events at Van Cortlandt House and as young adults golfed with their Dad at the Oldest Public Golf course in the US, brought back fond memories. It was simply, and sublimely -- just "lovely"! I will definitely return to this gem of a restaurant and enthusiastically, herein, recommend a visit.

Cocktails, food, staff, service were all top notch. The group I was with have been going there for years. Well worth the trip.

Great view of park. Delicious soup, pasta & pork chops. Waiters sang to my wife on her 9/11 birthday. The notice of 20% helped our retirement budget.

We were waiting about 15 to maybe 20 minutes before the server initially came up to us, she apologized immediately. Delays happen. After our order was taken, our food came out pretty quickly. We all really enjoyed our meals and had some leftover for home. However, I do recommend packing your own food because our sides and main courses were mixed up in the containers. Luckily we are family and didn’t mine too much , but I didn’t enjoy having my fries packed on top of my mom’s lobster sauce and my father’s steak was packed with my mom’s leftover mashed potato.

Eaten here numerous times. Very good porterhouse, strip and hanger steaks. Excellent tuna tartare and absolutely wonderful vodka martinis.

Food is very good!! Our server was new, so there were a couple mishaps, no a big deal. The issue is the AC you are freezing & your food gets cold after a couple of bites. This time I asked to speak to the manager to raise the temperature, he accommodated our request, and this made the second half of my dinner a little bit more bearable.

It was great as usual service is on point …. !!! the food and portions are huge took home 3 plates .. the steak was cooked to order .. I have to say the wine list ….. well it is well balanced and varied with a nice selection and the prices are a little heavy but not excessive … the bar is well stocked and the bar tenders are agin on point with service and personality … and let us not forget the valet parking … nice guy and he takes care of your vehicle .. very pleasant !!! Don’t forget to take care of him I always do !!!

This is our second visit to Jakes in the Bronx. Very polite staff. Our waiter was excellent. Cozy and warm atmosphere. We love food and enjoy dining out and this restaurant will not disappoint. We did not order drinks from the bar as we don’t drink alcohol do I cannot comment on their drinks. However I can comment on their wonderful menu items. What we ate and recommend: appetizers: french onion soup, clams, fried calamari, chicken wings. For dinner we ordered porterhouse steak, skirt steak and fillet mignon. All delicious! We ended our meal with cappuccinos and cheesecake. Top notch meal. I do recommend and we will be back!
