J. Gilbert's is an "upscale casual" steakhouse serving prime-aged beef cooked over a mesquite wood-fired grill. Guests enjoy various cuts of steak, fresh seafood (including award-winning crab cakes) & other house made favorites like the Maytag Bleu potato chips & Chocolate Velvet Cake. The cozy atmosphere includes fire side dining, rich wood, brick & soft lighting where you can enjoy a quiet table or host a large party. The extensive martini & wine list offers the perfect compliment to an excellent meal delivered with attentive service. J. Gilbert's is open for dinner 7 days a week. Reservations are recommended.

    This was not an inexpensive dinner - but oh my, was it glorious. The natural light you get when seated in the bar area makes it my favorite space, rather than the official dining room. If after dark, the city lights are also nice from there. The lobster fish and chips were what brought me in and they were so amazing. The flavor in the batter made the dipping sauces unnecessary. There was so much food I about popped. Enjoying these at happy hour with a red wine that is better than most restaurants' better selections, makes this a very happy meal indeed. BTW, my server was lovely and didn't skimp on the kindness, service, or effort because I was eating alone.

    We always enjoy dinner at J Gilbert’s. The food, ambiance and service are always amazing and last night was no exception.

    My partner and I visited for the first time for Omaha Restaurant Week. We ordered the crab bisque for the first course and added an order of the crabcakes. We wished the crabcakes were a little bit crispy, but they were filled with delicious crab meats. The bisque was also delicious. Our second course, I ordered the Japanese Wagyu beef on risotto. My partner ordered the sirloin with Yukon mash and green beans.  I thoroughly enjoyed my melt-in-the-mouth wagyu. The risotto was surprisingly tasty and flavorful. I was really happy with my choice. My partner thought is me was good for the most part. The green bean with caramelized onions had a little bit of a funky smell that detracted from the steak a little bit. For our third course, we decided to share the chocolate velvet cake and got the carrot cake to go. The chocolate velvet cake was very decadent, and the raspberry ice cream that came with it really balanced it out. Our server, Raven was very friendly and attentive. The place got a little bit more noisier towards the end of our meal because it got busier. Overall, we had a great experience. I was very happy with my meal and would come back to try other menu items.

    The service...FIRE! The food...FIRE!!! My wife ordered a 6oz filet....it was smooooooth like butter 😋 I got a sirloin strip; simply amazing! Even the "basic" apps of a wedge salad and tortilla soup were fantastic! The ambience lent itself to great conversation and a cozy vibe. A big shout out to Ethan who made celebrating our 2nd anniversary special 🥳🍾

    We were fortunate enough to visit Omaha during restaurant week. There was a special $50 three course menu. J Gilbert’s was recommended by several locals and it didn’t disappoint. My wife needs to be gluten free and they were very accommodating and our waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and what was gluten free. He didn’t hesitate to ask to make sure if an item was gluten free and took special note. We came to celebrate our anniversary and they even gave us a special treat of our choice to celebrate. They do have a menu that you can select a 3 course meal and have a price range. It’s not the cheapest but for a special occasion it is well worth it. Not many places now a days can cook a steak to order without going over or under. We will definitely recommend j Gilbert’s to anyone

    Had a Saturday evening reservation for 2 at a high table in the bar area. We were seated right away, the service was exceptional, the food and drinks were better than we expected, and the desserts were amazing. The atmosphere was pleasant as we could have a conversation without raising our voices. Highly recommend.

    The restaurant week menu was excellent! Always love the crab bisque soup. The steaks are always great and the creme brûlée was divine.
