Situated in Lakeview's iconic Southport Corridor, Itoko is a neighborhood Japanese and robata restaurant from Gene Kato, Executive Chef of Momotaro. “Itoko” means cousin in Japanese, and refers to the connection with Momotaro, located in the Fulton Market District. The menu features the high level of ingredients and technique that Chicago has come to expect from Chef Kato, alongside a beautiful interior curated for the Southport neighborhood. The menu itself features uniquely interpreted sushi rolls that allow the high-quality fish to be the star of the sushi experience. In addition, an innovative beverage menu with a focus on cocktails & highballs highlights the relationship between the technique of the food created by the kitchen and how this is complimented by the beverage selection. This is supplemented by a compelling sake program (designed to demystify the tradition of the Japanese spirit).

Wonderful host team and wait staff, so friendly. The food was AMAZING! We have been here before for dinner, this time, here for brunch. Loved it all, had the pumpkin pancakes and their take on “steak and eggs”, kimchi rice was delicious!

This was our second time here, after having a fantastic first experience. This time wasn’t as impressive. My brothers dish came out first, a good half an hour before the rest of our meals, my mom’s coffee was cold with curdled cream, I ordered the combo for $25 but they charged me for each item separately, costing $3 more. Unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll be coming back.

Love this place but always too loud and uneven service (and wobbly tables). Everything is delicious and I’ve been 5-6x and will keep going, but many dishes seem to run out once ordered - it would be helpful to alert servers so they stop presenting specials only to find out 30 minutes later that’s why a dish didn’t show up.

My favorite thing were the hand rolls but everything we ordered was delicious! Super friendly and helpful staff as well!

Sooo good! The food was amazing! We went for an early dinner on our last day of a bachelorette trip and it was the perfect ambiance. It was elegant without being over the top; you will feel comfortable both dressed up or in cute casual clothes. Sometimes you get style over substance at restaurants, but Itoko had both style and substance haha Everything was priced fairly and I would definitely recommend to others :)

It was a pleasure and beautiful experience going to Itoko. It was a recommendation from a friend. My date and I were happy with the service and how sweet she was. The food was just as delicious and it looked. I want to come back here and try even more dishes. Thank you!

We were initially seated upstairs which was heavily air conditioned. I asked if we could move to a table downstairs and they moved us right away - very much appreciated!

Our server rushed us out of the restaurant. I understand after you are cut, wanting to close your tables out…. But, we were sat at that table for no more than 66 minutes. Its as if we were a nuisance to a sever who clearly was more interested in her side work then waiting our table. When I asked if the table was needed for another reservation, she informed me that the section has already closed. Not sure why we would have been seated upstairs in a soon to be closed section at 8pm. The whole experience was rushed, and I’d be shocked if I return.
