Food was great, service was terrible! We had a party of 10 at 5:00 on Sunday. We were the only table at that point, waiter took forever to come take our order, we didn’t order drinks and our appetizers came out about 6:10! Dinner was for my triplet boys birthday which I put on the “Special Request “ part of OpenTable and the waiter said he wasn’t told anything about it….the busser collected our appetizer plates and forks and knives and then plopped down 10 forks, knives and napkins in the middle of the table! I should have known from the start, about an hour before dinner,I got a call from the restaurant saying is it ok to have dinner in the main dining room because they don’t use the Garden Room on Sundays, not that big of a deal but I made the reservation about 5 days before, they probably knew then and should have called me, I didn’t really have a choice at that point…They were out of one of the specials he offered which I was going to get and another dinner that someone else wanted…..a few other things were wrong as well, it was our first and last time we’ll be going there, there are plenty of places that have good food AND good service, thanks but no thanks!

First time at ITA kitchen in Bay Shore. There were five of us. We had an 8:15 reservation on a Saturday. My wife, son and I arrived around 8 and were seated in the “Garden Room” which is basically an outdoor tent. We ordered drinks (2 iced teas). A bread basket ($5) and I asked for a ITA platter (burrata, prosciutto etc - $38) and was told “no - we can only serve bread unless we put in the order for the whole table”. Okay - so we were seated but cannot order food? When the rest of our party arrived we ordered and enjoyed the food. We did not order apps or the ITA platter - due to their restrictive policy which resulted in a missed revenue oppty for the restaurant and the waiter. I had the burrata ravioli and it was excellent, as were the meals others ordered. Unfortunately the noise level was ridiculously loud so we tried to yell over the noise but didn’t have much luck. My wife ordered a $44 bottle of wine but was away from the table when it arrived. When we paid the bill it was $60 and apparently not what we ordered. Maybe an honest mistake - but when I inquired why it was more than expected the waiter simply told me he charged me what we drank. So - overall - food was very, very good. Service was “just okay” and the noise level was unbearable. Value was “okay” - total w/tax+tip just under $300 for 5 which included 4 entrees (mostly pasta), 1 salad, 1 dessert and 1 bottle of wine. Although I really enjoyed the food I likely won’t go back. I find their restrictive ordering policy to be a typical example of “restaurant first” policies enacted during Covid. Booked the reservation and was reminded 2x of the “10 minute grace period” on arrival time and table time. It’s obvious they force you to order everything at once so they can rush you through. With an 815 reservation & 2.5 hr time allowed, there’s no way they’re seating anyone else at 1045 - it was just poor mgmt. There are plenty of other Italian restaurants on LI - I'll go elsewhere.

Inside the restaurant it was way too dark which made looking at menu difficult not a good experience we should have eaten in the garden room outside but they didn’t have any tables left

The food was delicious as always. Got the ITA fries and they were amazing. Went because my wife was craving them. I got the spicy rigatoni and I’ll gladly be eating the left overs the next couple of days. Service was intermittent and felt like we were kind of an after thought. Overall happy with the experience, just didn’t live up to previous experiences on the service side

Took over an hour to receive water utensils and our drinks. We didn’t have our entrees until 1015pm with an 8pm reservation very disappointing and we will not be coming back

I took my wife and family here for my wife’s birthday. We have been here before they enclosed the outdoor dining into a giant tent. That was a little disappointing. First off the service was great . Really nice kid serving us. Unfortunately that was the best part of the evening. Drinks took a looong time to get. The calamari Fritti was cold. I ordered the veal … worst I have ever had. It was definitely frozen and thawed. Not fresh. I didn’t say anything because it was my wife’s birthday and we had a nice evening. Unfortunately I will never go back.

Place is very tight when eating to the point you are being bumped by the waiters busboys and other patrons. It’s very tight. Loud as the music is loud and it’s tough to talk over the music if you have a party of 6 or more. It’s very dark and you have to hold the fake candle up to the menu to see it. We ate our food and waited 30 minutes to receive our check and then another 15 for them to come grab the payment (which I finally had to get up and walk over to them). The staff is always buzzing but the waiters are few and far between. The food was very good but I won’t return as it is costly for a good sized portion and the overall experience was lacking.
