Welcome to Island. We have proudly been the neighborhood favorite in Carnegie Hill since we opened our doors in 1986. We take pride to offer the freshest seafood (think Jumbo Lump Crabcakes, Lobster Roll, Maple Glazed Salmon or Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl to name a few), a great variety of fresh salads, a burger that people die for and much more. We have a bar where you can dine or simply enjoy a cocktail or a glass of of wine (our entire wine list is served by the glass). Our warm and thoughtful service is hard to find in New York and is what continues to keep our customers coming back. We hope that you will come give Island a try and become one of our new regulars!

Valentine's Day, busy. Seated by the door, so extra busy. Our wait person was super, but overall, he had too many tables to care for, which meant that service for us - being so far from the central area - was slow. Worse, though, was the food. I've eaten here a number of times, and never had a problem. But this time, the food for each of us (two) was lukewarm. It was pretty clear that the food had been prepped and left under the heating lamp too long before serving. The restaurant took my plate of steak frites back, replaced French fries with hotter, fresh fries, but they did nothing with regard to the steak. It came back almost cold. My recommendation? A generally good restaurant that needs to beef up its kitchen and wait staff for busy days.

We eat lunch as a family at Island almost every Sunday, and all three generations love the restaurant. Everything is perfect: the food, the service, the staff, the ambience.

We had the salmon and the sesame crusted tuna- both came with vegetables and they were delicious.

Always reliably good, Island is a great, long-standing option to have in the E. 90's/Madison Ave neighborhood. Big salads, great whole wheat sourdough bread (we asked - it's made for them especially so you can only get it there). All dishes well-prepared. Friendly service, attractive decor, and they do a brisk business at both lunch and dinner. Definitely recommend.
