A tale of two cities

Inspired by New York, 100 per cent Brum. Isaac's menu features American comfort food such as hot dogs, mac & cheese and cheesecake alongside brasserie classics including beef carpaccio, seafood platter and 30-day aged steaks. Dial things up for a blow-out occasion or dress down for casual dining: the choice is yours.

Our Chef, Adam Bateman has been knocking up New York sensations with us since we opened, and is proud to be a Brummy lad bringing the Big Apple buzz to our streets! Just across from Birmingham's famous Pigeon Park and a 10 minute walk to the gorgeous canals, we are the perfect place to grab a bite to eat when in Brum!

I chose this restaurant for a birthday celebration. My order was surf n turf, to my disappointment I was told they had run out of lobster at a 7.15pm booking. Highly disappointed. I settled for fillet steak, which was great. Service was outstanding. Very accommodating. The restaurant surprised me with a birthday dessert, which I thought was wonderful. I will definitely return for my surf n turf. Thank you Isaac's.

Food was excellent - it was a special birthday celebration for one of our party, and the staff made it even more special by bringing out a birthday treat. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely return and will recommend to family and friends.

Great experience…..our first but we’ll definitely go again - having just moved from the US (Syracuse, Up-State NY), we can appreciate the decor and confirm that Isaac’s got it just right - even down to the imitation tin-plate roof tiles. Staff were brilliant too. Well done

Desperately wanted this place to be good but it isn’t. It looks fantastic but the food is as basic as it comes. The amount of fake American style out of a can cheese removes all flavour from a menu that would feel at home at a harvester.

Little bit annoyed. I had had two phone calls and then online chat correspondence with someone about birthday cakes, if they provided any cakes and they informed me they do a complementary chocolate truffle with “happy birthday” chocolate sauce. At the end of the meal we waited 10 mins for the card reader and I thought they were being slow in bringing it because they were sorting the birthday treat. No. They were just being slow despite there only being 7 tables of people having meals & 4 wait staff working between the tables and most tables were in the middle of eating. By the time the card machine came we had to leave so I didn’t have a chance to talk to a staff member about it. And I hadn’t brought it up with staff members before because I’d wanted to surprise my partner, which was the whole point of trying to arrange it beforehand so he wouldn’t see me get up and talk to someone. I was informed a note would be made on the booking so staff on the day would know. Just disappointed and paid £11.99 service fee. For what service?

The food was good without being outstanding - I asked for my steak blue, it came more medium rare but it was tasty - and the 2 glasses of wine wine I drank (Negroamaro) were a very decent Puglian red. It’s rather difficult to judge the ambience as the restaurant was extremely quiet but the staff were excellent throughout: attentive without being over-attentive, efficient and friendly.
