We had a delicious meal at the Iron Whale and our server, Ashley, was excellent….smiling, friendly and quick. A small error was made w my meal, which was no big deal and she apologized profusely, which wasn’t necessary, taking blame for it rather than blaming it on someone else, and the manager came over and apologized too! We started with crab cakes and the special spinach & strawberry salad, then had tacos. Everything was fresh and delicious. The atmosphere was fun and lively without being too loud. I would definitely go back next time I’m in Asbury Park!

I was embarrassed. Brought my partner who’s from Dallas to experience my hometown at the jersey shore. Saw this place had great reviews and was close to our hotel. We sat outside towards the ocean. Our server was super attentive and sweet. She gets a 9/10. Took our app order. Apps were okay at best. We order our entrees. Over an hour goes by. Nothing. She comes to our table and apologizes for the inconvenience saying the kitchen lost our ticket behind a big order and it will be out within 10 more minutes. 30 minutes go by. The manager comes out and apologized. Our food is bland. This huge wait for food that’s bland. They offer us free dessert. Unfortunately we don’t eat sweets. We get our bill and noting is comped. Wow. Not even out hot tea. I would not recommend this place. It’s a huge tourist trap.

Love the menu with plentiful options and fresh seafood; including a Raw bar and full bar. Prices reflect quality ingredients and venue location for a great view of the beach and and boardwalk travelers. The food and drinks were delicious; the staff friendly and cordial. With slue of verbal specials offed daily keeping the servers their toes. Expect to spend $100 per person and enjoy the experience rather then stuffing your face without thought. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

First time dining at this restaurant. I made a 7:45pm reservation for July 4th. We arrived 10 mins before our reservation and was greeted very nicely. We were passed off to another hostess to bring us to our table. She was extremely rude and had a mean look on her face. When she was seating us, she walked very fast through the restaurant with two menus. I am recovering from knee surgery and cannot walk at a high rate of speed. As we were trying to keep up with the hostess, we lost sight of where she went. So we stopped and looked around. We spotted her walking back toward us. She walks right passed us, says absolutely nothing and went back up to the podium leaving us standing there like two lost dogs not knowing where our table was located. We started looking for a table in the area of with two menus on it, but couldn’t find our table. Frustrated with how she treated us, we decided to take two seats at the bar so we can order dinner. The food we ordered was great and the bartender was wonderful and friendly. Their bourbon selection is fantastic and priced accordingly. The bartender actually likes his job and it showed. Would’ve been nice to be able to sit at a table that I made a reservation for in advanced instead of sitting at a bar watching sports on tv. I would like go back and sit at a table but I do not want to be seated by her ever again. Worst hostess experience I ever had at a restaurant.

When we arrived at the restaurant the hostess sat us at a horrible table facing the bar, we asked for a different table. We then sat there for about 10-15 minutes waiting for someone to take our order. A manager noticed us sitting there and asked how everything was. We told her nobody had come over yet. She immediately jumped into action got us a server and got us a couple of comped drinks. We told them we were trying to make a show and they had everything come out quickly! Great save!

Let’s see. I’ll apologize in advance for an excessive review. Had a reservation of 2 @ 230pm via open table. Got to the restaurant and requested outdoor seating. Was told that would be an additional 30-40 min wait. I said no problem we can sit at the bar and have a drink while we wait. Ordered drinks and the bartender had ZERO personality but the drinks we had were EXCELLENT !! 30 min went by and we were told a table was ready for us. We walked out and sat at a table , hostess did not seat us and there were at least 6 open tables. Waited 15 min before someone came over to us and that person said did you just come from the bar ? Yes we did , why ? Well there’s a waiting list and you can not sit here. I kindly explained how we came to sit at the table. The girl replied , well I have to go check. Minutes later she returned and said ok , you can stay here it’s all good. Thank you. 15 minutes later (now 30minutes after sitting a “waiter” walk by and literally tosses 2 menus on the table and walks away. … dead serious…. Ok…. He walked by again and we to ask for the table to be wiped down. 10 min later … well you get the point by now. Had to ask for utensils , the drinks were terrible (same kind orders inside at the bar ) but tasted totally different. Food was good. No complaints. I was set to relax and spend an afternoon there. Not enjoyable - still dropped over $200 & tipped overly generous for the service (20%) in the hopes people take better pride in their work eventually. Disappointed 1st timer - not sure if they’ll be a 2nd.

Delicious food. We were six people. Had drinks appetizers mains. They gave us the check and asked us to leave because it was almost 1:30 hours. We didn’t get to have coffee and dessert. For the price of dinner another 30 minutes wouldn’t kill them.

Venue has great beach side seating. Mahi was a bit dry, as was the Lobster BLT. The Asbury was on point, as was the tuna tacos. The Honeydew cocktail was not full to the top. The Playa Picante was amazing. Service was great.
