I have loved Iron Star since the first time I went there. The last two times the service has been terrible. The first time the manager came over and apologized and I felt the waitress was new or something. The second time was on Father’s Day and we sat there forever before anybody took drink orders. I ordered a Pacifico. That took 30 minutes, it wasn’t all that cold and they just handed me the bottle. Very disappointing.

I may have been an off day, but we usually consider Iron Star a place to go for a special occasion. Casual, but excellent food and good value. This time food was poor. Fatty brisket. Strange and not good pulled pork sandwich. So so sausage and ribs. Very loud so that conversation was difficult. Server was great, but couldn't make up for unexpected disappointment with meals.

We enjoyed our meal as always. I know it is hard to control temperature for lots of different people, and I am cold natured, but we often find it hard to find a place to sit where either air conditioning or a fan are not blowing directly on us. I always wear a sweater, because I know I get cold easily, but it would be nice if there were some tables that didn't have cold air blowing directly on us. It also makes our food cold too. The okra was good and crunchy, the dutch oven sweet potatoes were great as always, and the ribs are very hard to put down and stop eating, even after being very full; tender and smoky, just as they should be.

Our food was great except for the BANANA PUDDING! I am sorry but it was terrible! No Bananas or Vanilla Wafers….it was just bad pudding and caramel sauce. We paid for it but will never order it again. We also ordered bread pudding and it was excellent!
