Originaire de la côte est du Maryland, le chef Anthony Chittum a gagné sa réputation non seulement pour sa cuisine, mais aussi pour son engagement à s'approvisionner dans un réseau d'agriculteurs, de pêcheurs et d'artisans alimentaires locaux. Puisant leur inspiration dans les cuisines de la Grèce, de la Sicile, de la Sardaigne et du sud de l'Italie, le chef Chittum et son équipe interprètent ces différentes traditions et techniques en utilisant les meilleurs produits de la région du Mid-Atlantic. Vous pourrez opter pour un menu dégustation de 4 plats (60 USD par personne, plus 40 USD pour l'accord mets et boissons), un menu dégustation de 6 plats (80 USD par personne, plus 50 USD pour l'accord mets et boissons), ou le menu dégustation du chef (110 USD par personne, plus 90 USD pour l'accord mets et vins). Wonderful restaura overall. I don’t come to DC very often, but the last time here, I had the best mussels ever at the Iron Gate. This time, although lovely time, I did not love the menu. The Buffalo was underdone and the swordfish was a bit fishy. I would have preferred at least a few traditional options. I did not complain because in the past when complaining about an underdone cut of beef, it always comes back overdone. Anyway, I’ll come back again, but I’ll check the menu first. Thank you

This is a great neighborhood gem that was referred to me. I'm visiting from California and my colleague lives in D.C. The location is great, very charming. We arrived at 7:55 p.m. for an 8:00 p.m. reservation. The hostess said it would be about 5 minutes to be seated. We sat at the bar, ordered a cocktail, made some nice conversation with the two bartenders, finished our drinks and it was almost 8:20 p.m. The hostess walked by and we stopped her and asked if our table was ready, she looked surprised and said,"Oh, okay, just a minute." She then seated us. The server was outstanding - great guy, personable and attentive (maybe Chris??). We ordered tuna tartar and grilled oysters, which were both great and also shared the ravioli dish - also delicious. Then my hubby had a steak and I ordered the salmon, asking that it be fully cooked, not transparent. It arrived undercooked and the server very pleasantly took it back to the kitchen. The second order was also under cooked - and I mean by a lot. At that time I had two glasses of wine, hubby was done with dinner so I passed on getting a third order. The server obviously removed the salmon dish from our bill and was quite apologetic. So, he was the one that made the dinner get the better rating, had it not been for him it would have been a 1-star rating.

Fantastic dining experience! We did the family table for 2 people, and it was incredible. Everything was delicious and we were even given a few surpises during the meal. The service was wonderful, our table was clean moments after we finished a course and our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the foods and wines. Perfect for a special night out!

Griffin was an amazing server!! He answered all our questions and provided a rich history of the restaurant and each dish. The whole night was such a wonderful experience and everyone was so knowledgeable and friendly. The food was delicious and the drinks were superb. One of the best meals I’ve ever had!!

Start to finish, this was a fantastic restaurant for a birthday. Romantic room, little surprises. Highly recommend.

Haven't been for awhile and the return was as enjoyable as the high expectations. The menu is a little limited but the expectation that everything on it must then be excellent was exceeded. Perfect for our anniversary, can't imagine a more romantic setting.

Joined for anniversary dinner - we felt very welcome and cared for by Chris and the rest of the staff - it was an excellent experience to try the prix fixe menu.

Iron Gate was a wonderful find and the best meal we had during a recent trip to Washington, D.C. The setting is very atmospheric and the food excellent. Both my wife and I were extremely pleased to see bison steak on the menu. It was prepared perfectly. Our server was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. We definitely plan to go back.
