Il Toscano means “The Tuscan”, and is a perfect representation of everything I am, and all that I love about my home land in Italy. My name’s Matteo – head pasta maker, chef and owner of il Toscano. I was born and raised in the countryside of Tuscany, and although I’ve now lived in Australia for over 6 years, my passion for all things Italian has never been stronger. Nor has my passion for sharing it with Australia and the Central Coast. I noticed that while there are a lot of outlets serving Italian food up here, they’re largely not hitting the mark when it comes to quality, authenticity and value for money. My wife Laura and I became so tired of being disappointed every time we ordered food out, that we decided to take matters into our own hands.

Visiting from Melbourne, we have stopped at ll Toscano for some pasta. OMG!!! Everything was so authentic and delicious. Service, music, vibe, food and wine. Strongly recommend!!

It was the best Italian food I never had before. So fresh... Cannelloni the best! Amazing service too! Great experience .

3 items, all truly bad. For example, watching the ‘cook’ take a plastic container out of the microwave and slop it onto a plate, I hoped it wasn’t my meal (cannelloni) - but it was, and terrible it was. No taste, at best, and who knows what the filling was (sure wasn’t ricotta). Had to be some frozen, mass produced bought item. I’d ask for some effort be made with the food, but you clearly do not care, so long as the customers keep coming. When paying, we were asked how it was, and I said it was not good, and was completely ignored (certainly not asked why). We went for ice cream after, where we meet a party of four (one being Italian) that had just come from there also, with similar comments made by them. A wasted birthday dinner. Never again. Utter waste of time and money.

Very average food. The caprese burrata salad had one piece of basil sitting sadly on top of the burrata. Not at all like my other past experiences with a caprese salad. The bruschetta was also missing the flavour of basil and the food was in dire need of seasoning. My partners marinara pasta had one piece of fish, calamari and soft over cooked prawns where was the rest of the seafood? My pasta dish was mushy and flavour less drowning in garlic. Put some black pepper in the tables so the food can be seasoned. Maybe ask customers if the want parmesan cheese on top of their pasta. It is definitely a no from me.
