Welcome to Il Gusto Restaurant and Wine Bar, Cheshire's newest Italian dining experience, brought to you by restaurateur Gina Baca and Frederico Agraja, the chef and owner of the acclaimed Adriana's Restaurant and Wine Bar in New Haven. Situated at the historic location of the former Waverly Inn at 286 Maple Ave., Il Gusto revives a cherished local landmark, combining the rich heritage of its predecessor with the vibrant flavors of modern Italian cuisine. Il Gusto will feature a menu reminiscent of Adriana's, offering a delectable selection of traditional and contemporary Italian dishes. With seating for over 220 guests and a spacious banquet room, we are the perfect venue for dining, parties, meetings, and special events. Our goal is to preserve the history of the Waverly Inn by showcasing framed photographs of the original establishment, creating a warm and nostalgic atmosphere for our guests.

Not a good experience at all. Service, food, lighting in restaurant dining room was like sitting on an airport runway. One decent server who was training multiple people during a very busy evening. Food was mediocre and expensive. Will not return.

The service and food was outstanding, but the noise level was through the roof. I can't believe that we were the only patrons who felt that way. We could not hear the servers and had to shout our choices, and we couldn't have a conversation amongst ourselves. It was not a relaxing experience.

Noise level was really high that my husband and I found it hard to talk each other. the lights are too bright and tables are so close to each other that you cannot walk easily to get to your chair. They need more interior design and dim lights to make the place more cozy and romantic. The food was average. We had beets salad and fried calamari as appetizers! For entrees, I had duck which was very juicy and tasty but my husband had pasta which was very salty.

We really wanted to like Il Gusto because we love Adrianna’s but we have been twice now and the food is seriously lacking flavor. It is disappointing because the menu, service, and ambience is great. However, I’ve had a pasta dish and a meat entree and both were very plain. The presentation is beautiful on the plate but the taste of both were very bland. The drinks and desserts were very good so it seems to be whoever is actually cooking the food as our appetizers and entrees really lacked in flavor. Hoping they need some time to get going since the restaurant is new.

Very noisy. The food was good. The drinks were inconsistent. I ordered two cosmos. The first one was fabulous and the second one wasn’t.

As a former restaurant owner, I was quite surprised by my recent experience at your establishment. Unfortunately, my meal did not meet expectations; after just one bite, I found the texture and flavor unpleasant, almost gritty, as if there was sand in the dish. When I expressed my concern, the server relayed that the chef acknowledged the issue, attributing it to the mushrooms. Despite this, I was still charged for the meal, rather than having the item removed from my bill. I shared my disappointment with the server, noting that I could no longer recommend the restaurant to colleagues or consider it for future business gatherings. I lead a company and often host luncheon meetings with employees, so I am disappointed that we will be taking our business elsewhere. Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I hope this feedback supports improvements in customer service.

We made reservations for 7:30 got there hostess said it would be another 30 minutes finally after asking several times we sat down waiting another 30 minutes finally received a drink then tried to order we were only allowed to order an appetizer then were told we could not order dinner they ran out of food. The only good experience was the bartenders.
