Il Gabbiano is an Italian Steakhouse brought to the historical waterfront district and neighborhood of the city of New Haven, Connecticut by Chef Valentino Stakaj owner of the city's iconic Adriana's on Grand Avenue and La Lupa in North Haven, Valentino has rebuilt the famous restaurant location at 501 Long Wharf Drive which overlooks the Long Island Sound. Monday to Sunday happy hour from 2-6pm drink and appetizer specials every day.

    Unimpressed, second time here and the experience was consistent dined midweek and it was not that busy. The service was slow we asked for a water view and we got stuck in the far back corner facing a wall. There were many open tables outside. We waited 20 minutes before someone even greeted us. Large portions but food was average at best. Not what you expect in terms of service given the price tag.

    We took our 92 year old cousin here for her birthday celebration. We had a magnificent evening!!

    Enjoyed sitting outside on a Saturday for dinner. They had a singer for part of our dinner, which was fine. Good food and nice place.

    We’ve never had a bad experience at Il Gabbiano. It’s our favorite. Service exceeds our expectations every singe time. Food is amazing. Our server Bosco was fantastic. GM is also a class act. Highly recommend

    great Italian by the water with amazing views! The portions are huge so you pay for lunch and you have dinner to take home!!

    Excellent service. The hostess knew to place us in a quiet area because of a few parties. The food was great as always. Enjoy the view! Be back soon.

    Terrible experience. Server neglect, loud environment, two hour wait for entrees followed by dismissive attitude from server after pointing out the disappointing experience. And after the extensive wait the Entrees were served to our party of six one at a time, minutes apart. Two of which came out lukewarm and another puzzlingly way over cooked. We requested to speak with the manager before leaving but were told that they were too busy.

    Took an hour and 20 minutes for entrees to come out after appetizers. One of our guests never got her appetizer. Waitress was very nice but clearly overwhelmed. Couldn’t order another drink. Never had water glasses refilled. Finally had to get up and ask another waiter to check on our meals. Food was good. Squash flower appetizer not at all good!
