Love the food and hospitality. Food came to the table hot and server was very tentative. We will be visiting again soon.

I am part of a group of men who have been gathering for meals at Il Fornaio Palo Alto for 25 years or more. I function as the unofficial social secretary, making reservations and coordinating communications. Over those years we have rarely had anything but great food and that was certainly true on this visit. The reason for the mediocre score here is that service on this visit was very bad. Other parties that were seated after us were being served their entrees before we received bread. We had to ask for bread and it still took 5 minutes for it to get to the table. There are other examples but this should suffice. The only service that was excellent was the speed with which our meals were came out of the kitchen. Much faster than normal. We will return because the convenient location and good food but we hope to do better next time.

The staff made me and my table feel very welcomed. I thoroughly enjoyed my birthday dinner. Best place to celebrate and have amazing, freshly cooked food!

Been coming to Il Fornaio Palo Alto for years! I especially appreciate the classic dinner menu; while I always check out the new seasonal items, I'm grateful I can always order reliable favorites (like Pasta Bolognese) which never disappoints. The fantastic wait staff and hosts - many of whom have also been with the restaurant for as long as we have been patrons - are always professional and prompt in ushering us to our table and checking on us even after the food has arrived. Lovely ambience, with tasteful season decor, relatively good sound control even when full, and the tranquil back patio outdoor dining area, make Il Fornaio a forever dining favorite in our family.

Last night we decided to have a nice dinner at one of our Palo Alto favorite restaurants, Il Fornaio. We've been going there for years , but last night was a return to reminisence about our lovely wedding dinner there twenty five years ago. We had a terrific and attentive server, unfortunately I can't remember her name, and all the other staff were great too. They always are. The food was just right, and it was a perfect summer evening, just like our wedding dinner was. Thanks Il Fornaio!

The service was great. The food exceptional. The wine outstanding. We have this as our "usual" meeting for the three friends. Love the outdoor patio.
