Il Falò celebrates the art of cooking with fire – with quality ingredients prepared skillfully and cooked to perfection over the open flame.

Our wood-fired oven and grill add a kiss of fire to artisan-quality meats, fresh seafood, vegetables sourced from our local partners, pizzas on house-made sourdough, and elements of our craft cocktails.

With an emphasis on the craft of cooking, ingredients are sourced thoughtfully, pastas and breads are made in-house, and a contemporary approach is applied to Italian tradition.

    Hello Mr. Thomas, I apologize for the wait on Valentine's Day, we had one of our busiest nights we have ever had and tried to accommodate everyone to the best of our abilities.     Booked a reservation 2 weeks in advance for the Valentine’s Day experience but still had to wait 45 minutes to be seated once arriving. Once seated, we waited a very long time to be served. After finishing eating, we had to wait around 30 minutes before we were given our check. The food was very good but the experience overall was disappointing.

    This was our first visit to Il Falo. I chose this location to celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary. My wife has a gluten allergy and I checked the menu which had some decent gluten free choices from what I could see listed. The atmosphere was great and I wanted to give this location a much better rating because our server was good and the food flavors were wonderful, but I didn’t know where to ding this restaurant so I decided to ding them on service and the food for the following reasons: 1) when making the reservation, I clearly stated my wife’s gluten allergy 2) when our server came to the table we addressed her gluten allergy as well and the server seemed to be very attentive. However, my wife ordered and amazing Eggplant Parmesan dish which arrived at the table with gluten filled pasta rather than gluten free pasta. 3) so my wife only has a salad and her main course had to be returned. In an effort to provide something to hold her over until her main course was prepared again, she ordered the only gluten free soup on the menu just to find out it potentially had gluten containing breadcrumbs in it (there are gluten free breadcrumbs available but the staff couldn’t guarantee this soup used those) 4) the salad was gluten free, but was not marked as such. So, my wife’s main course did arrive finally with the proper pasta and my wife said it was wonderful as was every item we ordered and was able to eat. The restaurant did comp my wife’s meal and provided us an amazing anniversary gift of chocolate covered strawberries and prosecco. The better way to grade them is to take points off for service due to lack of attention to detail when it comes to the servers being attentive to the guests’ dietary needs and the chef team for properly notating the menu items. Food allergies are serious and menu planning in such an upscale restaurant needs to be on point and properly communicated to the entire staff. The food here is amazing though if no food allergies!

    Disappointing Experience at IL Falo – Not Worth the Price To say tonight’s dinner at IL Falo was a horrible disappointment would be an understatement. I arrived for my 6:45 reservation and was barely acknowledged by the hostess, who held up a finger for me to wait while taking a to-go order over the phone. I ended up standing there until 6:57 PM—over 10 minutes—before she finally attended to me. She then had to bus and clean the table herself, as there appeared to be no bussing staff, adding another 5–7 minutes to my wait. This was certainly not the first impression I expected from a restaurant inside a Westin Hotel. Once seated, I was informed that there would be a lengthy wait for food due to how busy the kitchen was. Fortunately, my server, Kenneth, was wonderful and took great care of me. I had no issues with him, and the other serving staff I encountered were friendly. However, the restaurant itself clearly has a lot of operational issues to address. For my meal, I ordered the braised beef short rib but substituted the grit cake for ravioli. Unfortunately, the ravioli was undercooked—chewy and hard around the edges. As an avid foodie and cook, I can confidently say this was not quality ravioli. The kitchen remade the dish, but the result was the same. To make matters worse, despite being told there would only be a "bit of an upcharge" for the substitution, I was charged the full price of the ravioli. After discussing this with my server—who was understanding and accommodating—he adjusted the bill accordingly. Still, paying over $60 for subpar hostess service, a long wait, and a disappointing meal was frustrating. While I paid my bill and tipped fairly, I couldn’t let the opportunity to leave honest feedback pass. The fact that no manager ever came over to check on me or address these issues was also disappointing. This restaurant needs significant improvements, and I highly doubt I’ll be returning. A refund would certainly be appreciated.

    Our second visit to I’ll Falo and we’re very much enjoying the interesting and creative Italian food offerings. We ordered the Restaurant Week 3 course pairing - all three course were enjoyable and different from the typical Italian restaurant menu items. The first course, the Ribollita soup, was just perfect on a cold evening. It would be a great addition to the menu at Il Falo. The second and third courses were interesting, novel and enjoyable too. Just a quick note - don’t be put off about dining in a hotel restaurant. While it’s part of the Westin, you don’t feel like you’re in a hotel restaurant- indeed they have an outside entrance so you avoid the lobby completely. Bring an open mind and try it. With dishes like ravioli drizzled with honey I’m certain there will be tastes on the menu that you’ve never had before !

    Overall, it was a fair experience. Our server was the only reason I rated our experience fair. Our food was good and came in a timely manner once we ordered.

    They canceled my reservation less than an hour before because "they had to close the kitchen for some reason". I tried calling back to reschedule on the number that called me and got the hotel front desk who then said they couldn't do anything.

    Solidy mediocre in every respect but if you are staying at the hotel it’s OK for a hotel restaurant.

    This is a must try restaurant! Hands down the best calamari I’ve ever eaten. The service was amazing as well as the ambiance. The next time I’m in the Durham area I will definitely be back.
