Il Colosseo is an Italian restaurant that is a local favorite. The dining room here is small and intimate, which adds to the homey atmosphere the eatery provides. At the back of the dining room, Il Colosseo has an open kitchen where guests can watch as the talented kitchen staff prepares the food. The kitchen is dominated by a giant brick oven where the staff cooks up all of its incredible pizzas.Il Colosseo begins its menu with antipasti like fried calamari for two, baked clams, sautéed octopus, sautéed broccoli rabe and a pasta e fagioli soup with white kidney beans and fusilli noodles in a light tomato broth. Some of the various entrées diners can sample are a chicken Francese, spicy shrimp fra diavolo, veal piccata, pasta bolognese and the Frank Sinatra pasta made with black olives, clams, mussels and shrimp in a garlic and white wine sauce.

The music was too loud, unnecessary for the restaurant setting. Pastas were good, swordfish was overcooked, tasteless, service was good. Awaiting for the food for a long time.

Delicious! Nice ambiance. There was live singing, which was very entertaining and quite good. The service was great.

The good: the food was AMAZING - some of the best Italian food I've had. Phenomenal calamari, pizza (the best crust ever!), amazing fresh pasta, excellent wine selection, and even the olive oil for dipping was next level. What makes me give 4 stars rather than five - services was slow. We had a 7:30 reservation and weren't seated until 7:50. Took 15 minutes to get a drink, and food took a long time as well - thank goodness we ordered appetizers as soon as we sat down or the kids would have been starving! The overall experience was 2+ hours, which again, if we didn't have kids would have been less of a big deal. It's clearly a family owned business and everyone was hustling like crazy - not like they weren't working, but they were busy and there was a lot to do. Would I still come back? Absolutely!

Dinner was excellent service could have been better not very attentive. Had to wait a while for dinner. Noise level was loud very crowded
