Overlooking the El Yunque National Forest and the River Course, is a family-friendly venue, known for its authentic Puerto Rican cuisine favorites and spectacular scenery. Located on the Rio Mar Clubhouse’s second floor. This new restaurant offers handcrafted cocktails, artisanal beers and light bites at Iguanas Bar. The mind behind this well known restaurant, Chef Jorge Cátala with over 15 years of experience makes sure to bring the highest quality products, including fresh lobsters & fish from local fisherman’s. Also, his love to the local agriculture brings to the table the freshest and finest dishes including organic chicken, cage free eggs, hydroponic greens, among others. Local specialties prepared with imagination. The food quality and taste was superb. Service staff were friendly and helpful with suggestions about nearby activities. Restaurant setting is very picturesque.

Iguanas was fantastic. We ate there one night. The following night we went to another restaurant and walked out after being seated due to the bad atmosphere. We then went back to Iguanas! The food is great! Fresh, large portions and authentic!

This was an exceptional dining experience from start to finish… arrived a few minutes early for our Friday evening reservation,we were seated without delay. Iguana’s is located overlooking a beautiful golf course, the decor has a contemporary island Puerto Rico flair. Our server was a delight…gracious, fun and knowledgeable! The two of us chose to share a few items… Started with their house Caprese Salad, which had a nice sized burrata, heirloom tomatoes and gorgeous basil leaves, with a balsamic/tamarind glaze drizzle…wonderful flavors. Followed this with their garlic prawns…6 large fresh prawns perfectly cooked with a slightly thickened garlic butter… again, perfect and flavorful. For our entree we chose their steak special, a 16 ounce NY strip grilled to a perfect medium rare, with a house made Worcestershire steak sauce. We chose their mofongo as our side with the steak…really delicious with lots of garlic and flavors melded together. They make their mofongo with either plantain or yucca…we chose the latter. Very similiar taste and texture to the best scalloped potato dish I’ve ever experienced. We accompanied our meal with a bottle of Pulenta Malbec, full bodied yet very smooth for a Malbec…paired fabulously with our grilled steak and other sides, which weren’t lacking spice or garlic! Finished off with their house vanilla flan/ chocolate cake combination….again, a wonderful combination of sweet flavors. One of the best meals we’ve enjoyed in our recent travels…we’ll be back!!

Our only issue as with others dining at the 7:00 PM/7:30PM timeframe is the restaurant rushed us so they could close, this was very aggravating.

A very pleasant and relaxing setting, serving excellent traditional Puerto Rican dishes, all well-prepared. Options for other choices, beef and seafood, are also offered. Ettenae was an awesome server. Always friendly, very helpful with recommendations, and very willing to answer questions. Checked on us regularly.

Food and service was excellent, but wish dishes were not a la carte. For example, if you order the organic chicken, which is fantastic, it should include a side. Instead you have to order separately and it becomes unreasonable.
