The name “Ichoume” comes from the address of this street. Ichoume is located on ‘1’ Harbour Street, Darling Quarter. That’s why we named the restaurant “Ichoume” (Choume is used for addresses in Japan. It's a way of breaking a municipality into districts. 丁目(Choume) is ‘city district’, so ‘1 choume’(Ichoume) is ‘1st [city] district’).

The design concept of the restaurant is a hangout for adults.

The menu is supervised by AKIKO ISHIKAWA, who has accumulated her career in many restaurants. The head chef is TOMOHIKO KIMURA . He specialises in Japanese - based cuisine with French techniques and flavours. SHINSUKE TODA is recognised among the best sushi chefs now working and is credited with techniques utilised in contemporary sushi and sashimi preparation.

It was my birthday celebration and they provided memorable service accordingly... We ordered hotpot and it was very authentic. As they had an event collaborated Suntory, I also received beer written birthday message on form! Service and food were all amazing!!

I had a sensational time at Ichoume for their Suntory Premium pop up event, flying all the way from Melbourne, and it is worth the effort! The food is delicious (oishii) and the team working there is lovely with great service. The venue has a great ambiance and made me feel like dining in Tokyo again; and with the Friday live jazz night, it was fantastic!

I’ll definitely be back. I was so glad to have delicious real Japanese food and drinking premium malts at Ichome.

Lunch 'Omakase' sets were delicious and filling, with a great selection of food items on the tray. The grade of uni could have been better though.

I would not recommend for sushi or hot pot. Both were poor quality and the service was horrible. We had to get our own water after asking 3 times and our drinks finally arrived after 30min. The food orders were delivered incorrectly.

It was a catch up with the girls and we had a great time. The staff come took out order, then the food and drinks came. They did not bother us ever 5 minutes which was good. It was a little chilly day so the food was nice and hot and very filling. I would eat there again. all us girls love it.

the service and food at this restaurant was outstanding. I was very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food, we had the smoky edamame, takoyaki and some sushi for starters. The edamame and takoyaki were both excellent, my son really enjoyed the tuna and avocado sushi. We ordered eel sushi and some goyoza, plus the wagyu econominaki for mains. The eel was very tasty as well as the goyoza. the econominaki was really flavoursome and I enjoyed this later as i had eaten too much. My wife had a couple of really nice cocktails. The staff were super kind and attentive and made us feel very welcome. I highly recommend this Japanese restaurant.

My second time at this venue and it did not disappoint. The food was great, the staff were super friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Will likely come back next time we are in the area.
