Il suffit de mettre un pied dans le confortable établissement pour réaliser à quel point le restaurant Hy's respecte la tradition. Les murs polis en acajou, le bar à cocktails, les meubles en bois massif et les œuvres d'art ont été maintenus avec amour depuis que le restaurant s'est installé en 1962. Le menu reste inchangé, à quelques exceptions près, et propose le meilleur du bœuf de qualité canadien et des fruits de mer, sans oublier le sublime toast au fromage du Hy's.

Always a favorite spot for dinner and drinks. We tend to like the upstairs now more than the main floor.

Our 3rd visit, very enjoyable and wonderful service. Table side preparation of salad was excellent!

Great food and service as always!! Wanted to be seated in the area of our favourite server Blair, but sadly he was full... but he still stopped by to greet us and even remembered us!! highly recommend!

We enjoyed our anniversary dinner very much. We were in a smaller private dining room. The table was fairly close to the next table of four businessmen talking and most of what they said could be heard. I found that I had to concentrate on NOT hearing them which was difficult at first. The food was delicious and service was great. All in all a lovely evening.

Although, as two Foodies, Hy’s was indeed on our bucket list and it certainly didn’t disappoint us. My prawn appetizer was joined with an amazingly light saffron glaze that was perfect, not too much and certainly enough to balance the generous sized prawns that it accompanied. My wife had a perfectly cooked (med-rare) chateaubriand with a side of sautéed wild mushrooms while I regaled in the myriad of taste and rich flavours that my rare filet mignon a la Neptune presented my taste buds with. The hollandaise sauce was succinct yet flavourful in its own right making its presence known however while competing with the very fresh steamed asparagus, the crab meat didn’t really shine through. The plated side vegetable was simply sliced sweet baby potatoe garnished with butter leaving an overall sweet taste, there were only a couple of these on the plate. I had my side potato garnished simply with real bacon and butter and the Chef didn’t hold back. Delicious. We chose a nice red Rhone Valley (France) wine from the Chateau-neuf-du-Pape appellation. It was a modest $300.00. Having no room leftover for dessert, I opted for a single shot of Johnny Walker BLUE, at $60/oz “on a rock”. Certainly a once in a lifetime drink to follow a once in a lifetime meal. Benjamin was our server extraordinaire. We certainly enjoyed talking about travelling through Chateau-Neuf-Du-Pape and the many vineyards present there with gusto ! Never intrusive but seemingly always there just at the right moment, Benjamin was truly a professional server. Would I recommend Hy’s: YES* *bring cash (lots of it) Our dinner was west of $600.00 But worth it and comparable to other dining experiences we have had in the past.

I can't count the number of times I've been to Hy's Steakhouse; but every time is somehow fabulous. There were three of us, so we shared a "Tomahawk", a 32 ounce masterpiece of meat. I even got a couple of pieces for a fab steak sandwich the next day. I ordered the usual - a cocktail to start, the fantastic Cheese Toast (by the way, this is not a hunk of cheddar on a piece of bread. It is a special blend of ingredients, including cheddar, which make it so special). It's a Must-Have. We then had Caesar Salad, another delight that is unmatched in this city. I mean, no-one, but no one, makes Caesar Salad this good! Of course, we had the obligatory Baked Potato with all the fixin's, topped off by yet another #1 in the city.... the Key Lime Pie. Of course, one can't forget the service - timely and considerate. Just the right amount of attention.

One of the top steakhouses in Vancouver, Hy's is a specific experience. If you want the dark Chicago style steakhouse, this is the place to go. Food was fantastic, service is always fantastic, and the cocktail menu was on point. My friend and I are regulars there.

Arrived early, started out at the bar upstairs, the 2 women up there were both great. Chatty, great personalities and helpful on the menu. Great start to the evening in a great atmosphere. Went downstairs to dinner. Waiters name was Andrew I believe. Absolutely fantastic. Great sense of humour, very helpful and courteous. Was a great evening out, great food and service to match.
