Melbourne Hwaro Korean BBQ is a place where one can fully enjoy that authentic Korean taste. Located in the CBD the restaurant is always full, even on the weekdays, as the smell of the BBQ floats down from the terrance stopping people in their tracks.

Just like mother used to make
Taste is something Hwaro is particular about. Taste is what owner and chef Eunsook Kim is mostly concerned with. Her dignified and somber character, reminds many people of their own mothers.

Kim herself is essential to Hwaro. The preparations for all the meat and sauce available at Hwaro are handled by Kim alone. This includes supervision of the slicing of the Karubi (boneless short ribs), and preparation of the 23 different ingredients* needed for the hot pepper Sangyu Pusaru seasoning. Nearly all of the seasonings lined up on the tables are Kim's own creations.

Took forever to get drinks and our food went to the wrong Table by the time we had worked out where our food was it was too late

Food is okay but the experience was really bad. Overpriced for such little amount of food. I left feeling hungry & paid over $150

Very unusual service where 7 people were served with 2 sides and lettuce in first round was enough just for 1 per person. Side included beef and when I said we don’t eat beef, the response was we cannot change it to something else. Only 1 kimchi side dish to share among 7 people. Upon request the portion served was still not what it used to be previously. For $185, we still had to go get pizza afterwards. Not sure what went wrong this time around given I booked over 12 hours in advance. Extremely disappointed!!

The service was extremely efficient. We ordered Set A on New Year's Eve and thoroughly enjoyed the marinated crab. The seasoned meat was delicious, although the wagyu beef was a bit underwhelming. Overall, it was an excellent experience!

The food was good. The restaurant was half full, yet the staff were constantly trying to get you to cook your meat and vacte the table..at one stage I forcefully had to say just stop.. as it was, we were out in 65 minutes.i understand the need to turnover tables but this was over the top

I recently had a dinner there on Christmas Day and very happy with them. Good food, great service and reasonable price. I would recommend Hwaro Korean BBQ to everyone who loves bbq.
