We have a proud reputation for fine cuisine in our Sidmouth restaurant. Our Executive Chef and his team prepare discerning menus that combine international dishes with the best English cooking, featuring a selection of fresh local produce with an emphasis on seafood.

We are also pleased to make special arrangements for pre-theatre meals and also for children’s high tea. Light refreshments are always available and can be served in the Regency Bar, in the Foyer or on the terrace during the summer months.

Hotel Riviera is a bit old fashioned. Nothing wrong with that and some good points such as service at table. That said the hotel had no record of our Open Table booking and ignored us for 25 minutes whilst sorting out residents who arrived after us. Starters were good. For mains we both had Lemon Sole. My fish still had an organ (swim bladder ??) still attached and my wife’s fish was bloody at the neck. Both fish were under cooked. So much so that the pink tinged flesh could not be detached from the carcass from the ‘neck’ to the middle of the fish (from there to the tail was fine). We skipped dessert and ordered camomile and mint teas - instead we both got English Breakfast tea. Only saving grace was that it wasn’t that expensive but still a poor experience
