Hostaria OsottoOsopra was born from a fortuitous meeting, between the streets of Venice.
With a coffee and a chat, the dream of opening a restaurant with friends seemed to really take shape for the first time.
In August 2017, those that were initially only ideas are transformed into reality, within the walls of a former pub in Calle San Pantalon, a stone's throw from Campo Santa Margherita.It would not make sense to open yet another tourist place in Venice, only to then get confused among the many restaurants around the city.
No, Hostaria OsottoOsopra was supposed to be something different.
It had to be a place to feel at home, where eating well in Venice became possible at a reasonable price and where the service, always in the hand but always elegant, made me want to come back.
At the opening, Hosteria OsottoOsopra looked like this: with the atmosphere of a typical Venetian hostaria, but from the almost gourmet kitchen.

Great small place about 5-minute walk from the train station. Sea bass was excellent, beef cheeks and a pasta dish also tasty. Owner served as our waiter and was very personable. Thanks for a great evening - Chuck Norris' son

Amazing service and unbelievable food. We have been to many restaurant’s around the world but this one is in the top 5! Don’t hesitate to book this little gem of a restaurant! 5 stars

Absolutely wonderful menu and food was excellent! A gem among tourist diners. Of special note to vegetarians who don’t eat eggs either, the owner/host helped figure out a delicious pasta dish. It is a little pricey but this is a fine food dining experience. Good location on canal and quieter off the beaten track. Worth a visit.

Best restaurant in Venice by far. Everything we had was delicious and the owner was very personable and friendly. It looked like he made sure to stop by and visit with everyone after their meals.

I feel so lucky I found this amazing restaurant, among loads of tourist traps, this is real traditional local food in a great location by a quiet canal and very cosy interiors. We had Polpo in Umido (octopus), Fegato alla Veneziana (liver) and Pasta al Ragù d'Anatra (duck ragù) and Tiramisù (i'm italian, you may want to trust my judgement on the food) and there were many more local traditional dishes to choose from. Everything was really really delicious, accompained by a very creamy polenta. The service was great, everyone was smiling and caring. Venice is beautiful but it's places like this restaurant which make your stay memorable! Best restaurant in venice!

Just got off 10 day cruise on Oceania Vista which claims finest cuisine at sea. Dinner at this restaurant was more flavorful and delicious than any on ship. Would absolutely return. Not fancy just good food, service and value.
