Hostaria OsottoOsopra was born from a fortuitous meeting, between the streets of Venice.
With a coffee and a chat, the dream of opening a restaurant with friends seemed to really take shape for the first time.
In August 2017, those that were initially only ideas are transformed into reality, within the walls of a former pub in Calle San Pantalon, a stone's throw from Campo Santa Margherita.It would not make sense to open yet another tourist place in Venice, only to then get confused among the many restaurants around the city.
No, Hostaria OsottoOsopra was supposed to be something different.
It had to be a place to feel at home, where eating well in Venice became possible at a reasonable price and where the service, always in the hand but always elegant, made me want to come back.
At the opening, Hosteria OsottoOsopra looked like this: with the atmosphere of a typical Venetian hostaria, but from the almost gourmet kitchen.

I feel so lucky I found this amazing restaurant, among loads of tourist traps, this is real traditional local food in a great location by a quiet canal and very cosy interiors. We had Polpo in Umido (octopus), Fegato alla Veneziana (liver) and Pasta al Ragù d'Anatra (duck ragù) and Tiramisù (i'm italian, you may want to trust my judgement on the food) and there were many more local traditional dishes to choose from. Everything was really really delicious, accompained by a very creamy polenta. The service was great, everyone was smiling and caring. Venice is beautiful but it's places like this restaurant which make your stay memorable! Best restaurant in venice!

Just got off 10 day cruise on Oceania Vista which claims finest cuisine at sea. Dinner at this restaurant was more flavorful and delicious than any on ship. Would absolutely return. Not fancy just good food, service and value.

An absolute gem! This restaurant was probably my favorite meal out of my 14 day trip in Italy. From end-to-end, expectations were met or exceeded. Got the Seafood Spaghetti, Scallop Ravioli, Beef Cheeks, Garlic Spinach and Cheesecake. The quality and simplicity of the dishes stood out. And the service was friendly and attentive. Only strange thing was the spray painted lettering on the front area glass panes which didn’t seem to suit the ambience.

Had a really lovely meal at this cosy and intimate little restaurant. Service was excellent. I had pasta with duck ragú and my partner had pasta with anchovies. The pasta was cooked to perfection and extremely tasty. The starter of caprese salad was also generously sized and delicious. All dishes were beautiful presented. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Alway a confirmation. Never disappointed. My husband wont stop talking about how good that Duck ragu pasta with cheese and fresh orange was.

We came here 3 times simply because after having several bad experiences in other restaurants we didn't want to risk and waste our money. This place is absolutely a hidden gem.
