It's been awhile since we've been to Hoq, but we were looking for a place to go during Des Moines Restaurant Week and decided to go back and we were excited to revisit the spot we had enjoyed in the past. We were underwhelmed by the menu offered for Restaurant Week, which included a very small appetizer (3 2 oz shots of soup), a smaller than average entree and a shared dessert. We definitely could have received a better value by ordering off the menu and spent less money, but felt like trying one of the Restaurant Week features was the thing to do. The food was good and we will go back but just felt this visit was lacking.

Great experience. Not sure why they aren’t busier - the food is great and the service was fantastic. Will definitely be back!

We had a wonderful meal including steak, salmon and a vegetarian entree. Everyone in our party commented on the great food and flavors!

Excellent food and service. We had six appetizers and dessert. Chocolate dessert was only disappointment. That needs work. Restaurant charges 3% on credit cards which wasn’t clearly noted before payment. I’d like that called out. Saw it on the payment receipt.

This is a gem of a restaurant - celebrating iowa foods with great care and presentation. Our server was wonderful and the atmosphere is fantastic.
