Hook & Ladder is the unexpected steakhouse you’d never thought you’d find in the historic, original firehouse of the Washington Fire Company. This is a one-of-a-kind Skybar experience allowing guests a close view of our 149 year old firehouse, bell tower and original stained glass windows. A unique cross between a chop house and Crudo bar, Hook & Ladder features Certified A5 Japanese wagyu beef that will melt in your month. Dry aged Steak offerings including 32 days dry aged Porterhouse (28oz), 32 days aged Tomahawk Ribeye (40oz) that will taste decidedly beefy, much like a rare roast beef, while also taking on subtler hints of other delicious flavors. Crudo uses the Japanese technique of curing the fish making it more tender and flavorful. Finishing it with lime, lemon, and soy; featuring Wild King Salmon, Japanese Madai, Hamachi and more. Enjoy the purest and fresh take on some classic cocktails.

Food is over priced and under portioned. Better off at Jean George’s for those prices.

Service, we felt rushed. Having a date night is a big deal for us as it doesn't happen often. Our server had brought our bottle of wine and poured a glass, immediately asked for our order. Food , I had the scallops, gritty and chewy. My husband had the salmon, a piece of salmon on a white plate with a slice of lemon. He did order the salmon without the cream sauce, however dress the plate up a little for presentation. For the pricing, I would certainly hope for so much more.

Conshy Restaurant Week was a fantastic opportunity to check out Hook & Ladder! The ambiance is outstanding - very high end and lots of fun details. The food was very, very good. We had the brussels sprouts and mushroom apps, pork shank and beef for a main. The drinks were also very festive, though my cocktail could have been a bit colder (it was the Washie 75 served at room temp - colder would have been better for my taste). My only issue is that this a very pricey venue. It may be worth it (the food is very good), but I could see it being tough to get a group to go out given different comfort levels budget-wise.

Enjoyed a nice Sunday dinner sitting outside on the balcony. Cool place with a nice relaxed vibe, DJ playing nice mix of music below. They have wonderfully delicious cocktails. We had the spicy tuna bites and Charcuterie which was very nice. It's served with toasted Baguette but my only comment is the bread was too hard to properly enjoy. Yes, the signature Ginger Scallion Sea Bass is absolutely delicious and was cooked to perfection. Alex was our server and did an awesome job with us paced our meal perfectly which made for a great experience.

Fantastic food and convenient for hotel guests. Portions and quality are on point. If you are a fish lover I highly suggest Signature sea bass, grilled salmon, snapper and himachi crudo! Love the atmosphere from eating alone while working to enjoying cocktails and dinner with colleagues and friends. At times the service staff is not available which makes you feel like you are looking or chasing someone to attend to your needs. Suggest they add another staff member for service or train staff to return to tables more frequently to proactively engage with their guests.

I really want to love Hook & Ladder. Their menu choices sound great, they have some interesting cocktail recipes, and the restaurant itself is positively gorgeous. The prices are high for what they offer -- this is somewhat expected of any restaurant attached to a hotel, to be fair, but even accounting for that the non-signature dishes are overpriced given that their sides are separate. I'm not sure if they've changed it at all, but on one visit a friend ordered the wagyu and while it tasted fantastic the plating was honestly a bit repulsive. Typically when we've had wagyu it has arrived sliced after a fast sear, but this looked like a small slab of uncooked beef. This was mid-2023, however, so hopefully they've improved on it. Service is ... fine? Each of the five or six times we've been there they've forgotten one menu item, but they typically comp it; the last time we went my steak was poorly cooked, with out outer layer that was grey and overcooked, but it had taken us long enough to get our food that I didn't want to delay things by sending it back. The French Onion soup was delicious, but they had forgotten about it on the first pass. All in all, it just doesn't live up to its upscale look and proportionately upscale pricing. It's got a lot of potential, though, so hopefully they'll make some improvements.

Wait staff was very nice but service took forever and there was only 4-5 other tables during prime business hours. Probably won’t be coming back
