Hook & Ladder is the unexpected steakhouse you’d never thought you’d find in the historic, original firehouse of the Washington Fire Company. This is a one-of-a-kind Skybar experience allowing guests a close view of our 149 year old firehouse, bell tower and original stained glass windows. A unique cross between a chop house and Crudo bar, Hook & Ladder features Certified A5 Japanese wagyu beef that will melt in your month. Dry aged Steak offerings including 32 days dry aged Porterhouse (28oz), 32 days aged Tomahawk Ribeye (40oz) that will taste decidedly beefy, much like a rare roast beef, while also taking on subtler hints of other delicious flavors. Crudo uses the Japanese technique of curing the fish making it more tender and flavorful. Finishing it with lime, lemon, and soy; featuring Wild King Salmon, Japanese Madai, Hamachi and more. Enjoy the purest and fresh take on some classic cocktails.

Service did seem very slow as it took almost 10mins after we were seated to be greeted - then almost an hour until we got our appetizers and drink orders. I can appreciate being understaffed so it did not ruin our experience. Dinner was very, very delicious!

Our server was MIA almost the entire time. It took 30 minutes to get water and a drink menu and we only got it because we asked a busser. After then waiting another 45 minutes for appetizers I got up to find our server because the people next to us were on their second course even though they were seated after us. We were there on the earlier side and it wasn’t busy. It ended up being an almost 3 hour dinner but not in a good way. We only had appetizers and entrees and the whole rest of the time was spent waiting. No explanation was offered. The busser did everything for us that was in her power to do - even things that aren’t generally a busser’s job, so we made sure to tip her personally. I can see how it might be good under other circumstances but this visit was so bad it was actually comical!

Extremely long wait time, 30 minutes. Reservation was at 815, seated at 830. First drink at 9, food at 940. Server was clearly not happy at work and food was mediocre. Frankly upset because our first experience was great, #2 was OK, and this visit confirmed we are not fans of the restaurant. Great ambiance though!

Waited 20 minutes for someone to come over to ask about water. Super loud and we ended up leaving.

We had a very nice dinner last night. I am a vegan, so I was pleased to see vegan options on the menu. That said, they were out of the portobello mushroom entree, so I had a cauliflower starter and a cauliflower entree due to no other options. Lots of cauliflower! The food was well prepared, the wine recommendation was great, and the ambience and music were wonderful. It was a positive experience!
