Hollyhock Hill never seems to change. After nearly a century it remains the same family friendly establishment that I enjoyed with my parents and siblings more than 50 years ago. The same holds true with the food. It is predictably good food, served freshly hot from the kitchen in quantities that always ensure there is something left to take home. The menu has many options that sound delicious, but we never get past the family chicken dinner when we eat here. The staff is friendly and engaging, and they go out of their way to ensure you have everything needed to enjoy your dining experience. They have mastered the balance of appearing at tableside frequently enough to make sure everyone is well cared for, avoiding the practice of some servers to either hang around too much or to ghost the table that needs a bit of help.

An otherwise very tasty meal and service was significantly diminished by the very, very loud conversations around us, so loud that our group of four could not converse and be heard in a normal voice. Why restaurants don't post notices asking guests to speak in subdued, inside voices when conversing is something I and many others have often wondered. The din was extremely off-putting, and I'm unlikely to return. My recommendation below, which is yes because of the food and service, would also include a comment about the loud conversations.

Our server was great. The mashed potatoes were very good. The rest - beyond overly expensive for a quality that has so sadly done nothing but spiral down. Go elsewhere.

It has been 35 years since we ate at this restaurant. Some friends mentioned how good the food was at Hollyhock, so we gave it a try. We were extremely impressed with the efficient service and both the quality and quantity of the food. We plan to make reservations at Hollyhock Hills for next month when we have out of town family visiting.

The food & service were excellent! Unfortunately there was a loud party of 4 in our room that made it very difficult to talk until they got their dinner. Other than that we had a lovely dinner & had plenty of leftovers for our lunch today. We will return, it had been years since I was there & my husband had never been before. He loved it too. Thank you!

The ambience was gorgeous but, Our server had little knowledge about hospitality service and would make excuses for herself during any mistakes were made. She also used sarcasm at a time that was unnecessary when we had a question about the menu. The final bill was screwed up by not charging things appropriately and was charged for a side item that was never brought to our table. The food was delicious and tasty.
