We had lunch at Hiramasa, and it was fantastic. The wagyu dumpling appetizer had layer upon layer of flavors, the sashimi was fresh as could be, and beautifully presented. Everything was spiced to perfection, and our server, Scott was attentive and helpful. They had some nice Japanese teas to choose from , we had a wonderful pot of Gyokuro, which I have not seen in US restaurants before. We will definitely be returning soon!

Service was wonderful. Everything we ordered - salads and various sushi rolls- was delicious. Loved the atmosphere. We’ll be back soon. A great find.

Hirasama is a restaurant desperately needed in this part of Delco. The ambiance and decor are incredible. Now I know why it took so long to build out. The colors, lighting and design is something you’d find in Philly, NYC or Los Angeles. The menu is extensive with a focus on Sushi Entrees which gives a great assortment of Sashimi, Nigiri, etc if you just can’t make up your mind. The presentations are designed to be unique and visually appealing. And I found a new soup I love, Bone Marrow Soup. But, they do need to work on the service and service support. The restaurant was lively, but not over crowded. We arrived at 7 pm with our OpenTable reservation. We sat at the sushi bar and that seemed to be a mistake. We were ignored for 30 minutes to take our drink and appetizer orders. Water took 15 mins only because I flagged someone down with a pitcher. They have a great sake menu and I ordered a $65 bottle of Kitaya which complimented our meal perfectly. Back to the service. After being there for 1 hour, our soup arrived. Well my soup did, after 10 mins I flagged someone down to get my wife’s miso soup. By that time, mine was lukewarm. We ordered the Sashimi Deluxe and Tuna Trio. No one offered to tell us the names of each fish - again I had to ask someone to point it out. The fish was spectacular. We never received our avocado salad. But, at the end of our meal, there it was sitting at the end of the sushi bar ledge. I said it was a mistake to sit at the sushi bar and here’s why: besides being ignored, the sushi chefs put everything on the top of the bar. The servers have to reach over, around or between you to get their dishes. Some are heavy and need 2 hands to pick up. This seemed very intrusive when I was trying to have a nice dinner with my wife. Other diners seemed to feel the same based on their reactions. They definitely need to find another system for getting the food to the servers. We’ll be back, just not at the sushi bar.

Hi Steve, im glad to hear that you enjoyed the roasted bone marrow soup. I totally agreed that there are lots of improvement needed to be made in service as the soft opening launched. I live in the neighborhood & I’ve been anxiously awaiting the opening of this new Japanese restaurant. We were not disappointed. The quality of the food was outstanding, the meal was delicious , service a little slow but they are still working out kinks , to be forgiven. The restaurant is beautiful & the food is aesthetically served with florals & greens, they take great pride how they serve their food. The sushi bar was slamming so I’m assuming it was great, I’ll have to try it next time because there will def be a next time !
