It was our anniversary dinner and we had an amazing experience here. Everything was delicious including the mantu, potato bholani, lamb shank and the Herat combo. Also, I would like to thank Ann and our waiter Muhammed who helped us choosing our meal and gave some recommendations since it was our first time there. They served us desserts with a candle on it which was remarkable. I can not express how much I loved this restaurant and thank you again to their staff who helped us patently throughout our time in Hills of Herat. We will definitely come back!

My wife and I, decided to celebrate Fathers day on Saturday to avoid a busy restaurant on Sunday. We arrived on time for our noon reservation and were seated promptly. We were the only table in the restaurant and I remarked that we were likely to get excellent service because of this. Boy, was I was wrong The front entrance stand had a young man ( Maitre d?) and a young Asian lady close by. Water service was prompt and we placed our order for our meal. One Meatball and one Chcken dish. (Afgan specials) The front entrance person was also the server. He returned to tell us that the Meatball item was not available, We ordered the veal dish instead. The soup was served along with the bread and three dipping sauces. No one came by to ask if everything was okay? We finished our soup and waited. Then the entree came and they had to remove the empty soup dishes to serve the entrees. Again, no one came to ask if we were okay We finished our entrees and no one came over. Both our server and the young asian lady were standing at the front entrance, he was looking at his phone several times. At no time during the service did either of those two look over at our table to see if we needed anything. There was another young lady(bus person) who was cleaning tables and wiping down areas. we had to ask her to get our server to order dessert. She promply got both of the other two to come over. We ordered dessert, one custand, one fried dough and one cappuchino. Our server then returned and said they didnt have the fried dough. We just shared the custard which was very good. I wanted sugar for my cappucchino but none was offered. I had to get the bus person again for sugar. The service was poor and not up to our expectations as we had dined here once before to good food and great service with a busy restaurant. Why didnt the staff look at us often and know what was 86 (out) before the restaurant opened? Not acceptable and very disappointing.

Food and atmosphere were great, but we didn’t know that the naan was not unlimited with our entrees, and the waitress casually asked us if we wanted more bread without indicating that we would be charged for it

The service is always excellent, as is the food. Lentil soup accompanied by delicious breads and sauces makes a great way to start. All the vegetarian and meat options are beautifully prepared and accompanied by a choice of three different delicious rices.

Food was good quality and there was a good amount served for each dish. The establishment is beautiful inside and clean. The service however was odd. We did not have steady waiter. Which would have been fine if they communicated with one another. We’d ask someone for something and a new waiter would show up and have no clue what we were talking about. Then they’d forget and we’d have to ask another person. It was just weird and a bit annoying. I will say that it was Mother’s Day so it was busy, we’d give it another shot. Also, tip was included, which is a loss for them because we usually tip 20%, they had 18% built into the price. It was our first time there so we’re not sure it this is normal or due to the holiday. All and all food was good and we would give it another chance.

Delicious food, very nice ambiance. Staff was attentive and friendly. We came with a large group and had a great time. Will definitely be back again soon!
