Set in the Historical Core of Downtown Los Angeles, Hill Street Bar and Restaurant offers modern American cuisine with a dash of left-of-Little-Tokyo. The Urli Bird Coffee Counter opens at 7:30 am, providing house-roasted beans and a selection of pastries, while regular restaurant service begins at 11:30. A popular lunch and early dinner destination, we are close to city court houses, the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, the Ahmanson, and the Broad and Contemporary Art museums. Prefer a cocktail? Our bar is carefully curated, fully stocked, and always friendly!

We readily accept inquiries for private events and gatherings, and off-site catering needs. Our goal at 2nd and Hill is to be your one-stop-shop!

Staff was outstanding! Was more fancy than we were expecting. I loved my salmon dish and my friend was okay with her Turkey open faced sandwich. Overall pleasant experience!

Came here for a business lunch with my coworker. Staff was friendly and we were greeted promptly. My associate had the Hill Street Burger and he loved it. I had the Bolognese pasta. It was awesome and a large portion. Overall experience was incredible I'm going to have to come back the next time I go to the Disney Hall for dinner. The wine list looks amazing.

It is conveniently located to The Music Center, which is why I selected it. I highly recommend the Hill Street Caesar salad. Everything about it was delicious, even though it was not the traditional recipe. I would definitely order it again. If you go toward dusk, be careful where you sit, as they do not have shades to block the setting sun and you may need to change tables. I ordered the Chicken Piccata, which is a favorite dish of mine, and I was so disappointed when it came with a chicken leg and thigh instead of a butterflied chicken breast, or any kind of chicken breast for that matter. It changed the entire flavor of the meal. And on top of that it was served warm and not hot, as though it had been sitting out for a while as though the server was doing who knows what instead of serving it in a timely manner. I hate to say that I will probably go back for the Hill Street Caesar salad and to try something else, but I will ask about how the dish is prepared before I decide to order it.

My meatballs were frozen inside, not cold, still frozen. The hamburger was mushy and thin, all bun. Terrible meal.

This is our go-to spot before seeing a show at the Music Center. We’ve been lucky to have Wilfredo as our server. He’s always very welcoming. The menu is varied enough to please everyone’s tastes (we’re usually a party of eight). I’m not lying when I say everything is GREAT!

Amazing service from a very friendly wait staff. I was greeted in a very welcoming and friendly manner at the door. My friend met me within minutes and we both agreed; the service was wonderful, the food was exquisite, and the ambience was lovely. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Perfect walking distance to the Ahmanson or the Broad and MOCA museums. It was a casual and comfortable venue with a simple menu at moderate prices. We were even entertained by a local jazz band and singer. The evening was perfect. Thank you!

Great wine list, good place for a business meeting. Not too loud. The meatballs and garlic cheese bread are a must. I had the chop salad, it was the best and my friend had the burger and said it was awesome!

The burger was incredibly filling, and flavor profile very balanced with arugula, blue cheese, carmelized onions. I got a side Caesar and the croutons are surprisingly memorable. My colleague got the chicken piccatta and said it was delicious. The wait staff was very polite and food came out pretty quick given they seem to have a fairly busy lunch crowd. I can see why people come here repeatedly for lunch. It’s reliable, great quality, and decently elegant ambiance.
