Higher Ground is a bistro and bar located in Manchester city centre that focuses on seasonality within the UK using produce sourced from local suppliers and producers.

The restaurant is open Wed-Sat at dinner and Thurs-Sat lunch. From 14th November ’24, Higher Ground is opening on Thursday lunchtimes and is now open from 5pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays!

At lunch a £38pp seasonal sharing menu is offered alongside an à la carte menu. At dinner, both an à la carte and a seasonal sharing menu at £58pp are available. Both menus are available when sat at the kitchen bar counter.

We often hold space for walk-ins at the kitchen bar counter so pop by and have some plates and a glass of wine!

Reservations of up to twelve guests are accepted. For parties of 7x guests and over, the seasonal sharing menu is served.

Incredible meal. Have always loved Higher Ground but they’ve really stepped it up a gear. Wonderful service as always too

Incredible meal and unbelievable food. The service was quick and friendly, wine selection was excellent and I am extremely excited to come back!

Great experience overall. Service was really attentive and customer focussed. All the front of house staff work seamlessly together to ensure the food came out speedily. Wine list was extensive with some really interesting and unusual grapes at a reasonable price. . Quality of the food was great, was a bit inconsistent its overall flavour. Some dishes on the tasting menu was great, some (the beef) were just average. Overall an enjoyable evening and would come back to try the full menu!

Fantastic. From arriving to leaving, we were very well taken care of, and the surprise/tasting/sharing menu was innovative and very tasty. Staff were friendly and genuinely interested in making this a good night for us all, especially our teenage child. Recommend fully. Thanks for a great evening.

We had a fantastic lunch sat at the counter on Saturday 26th October. We had the tasting menu and added some oysters to start and the cheese course after the amazing chocolate dessert Courses we had on the shorter lunch tasting menu included Yellow Pea Fritters with Mary Quicke's Cheddar / Beetroot with a whipped goats curd and quinoa / Wholewheat bread rolls with Lancashire Butter / Lyme Park venison and to finish that Caramalt custard tart and sour cream All absolutely fabulous and all run by a great team who clearly enjoy what they do. It is a light modern space with great food and service We can't recommend this restaurant highly enough and look forward to going back many times. Will try the full evening tasting menu next time

Absolutely faultless experience. I often struggle with having “share” menus as my dietary requirements can’t always be catered for and feel as though I’m missing out. This certainly wasn’t the case for us here! Every dish was beautiful and tasted fantastic. Every staff member we spoke with made us feel like no trouble at all, and were so helpful and kind! There was an amazing selection of alcohol free drinks (something very hard to come by usually!) and again, we didn’t feel like we were missing out. Just an incredible time here for my partners 30th, I couldn’t recommend it more.
