hicce is the creation of Pip Lacey and Gordy McIntyre
Friends for many years, hicce is a dream realised for this ambitious duo and the space and concept has been meticulously thought out to create the ultimate dining experience.
The menu will highlight Pip’s passion and skill for using the barbeque as a fuel source; grilling to steaming and smoking. From traditional smørbrød with cured meats and homemade pickles; to fish, meat and yakitori cooked over specialist holm oak charcoal. Pip will use traditional techniques to create beautiful dishes inspired by her travels and driven by her commitment to the very best produce.
Gordy is fantastically knowledgeable about drinks and guests can expect to see a carefully curated list of biodynamic wines, craft beers and original cocktails, each chosen to bring the best out of every plate.

We went as a couple for a quiet dinner and enjoyed the setting, with tables spaced reasonably compared to some restaurants although the music was loud. The food was good in parts, but never generous in either portion size or ingredients. Some elements were truly delicious but in tiny quantities while others were only so-so given the prices. We had the venison main which was delicious but involved 6 miniature slices of venison which must have come from a piece of meat the size of a match box. There was plenty of the marvellous cabbage and beetroot accompaniment though. The monkfish main was more generous with the fish but it wasn’t fresh which affected the taste and texture so was disappointing in its own way. The desserts were serviceable, but not amazing - a lot of elements on one plate that didn’t really come together (cheesecake, “soil”, sauce, ice cream etc) and again the cheesecake was a tiny portion. So a mixed bag all in all. We drank the house Pinot noir which was very nice (and so it should be at £41 for 750ml). Service was effective and friendly but not hovering which is something to be applauded.

Wonderful innovative food, enthusiastic entertaining staff (Head chef Pip was especially friendly and welcoming!!) and great atmosphere!! Can’t wait to go back!!!

Great unusual flavours blended well. Scandinavian feel. Good recommendations from the staff. Bit expensive for what you get, especially the boards.

As a regular visitor I felt that this meal was not up to the usual high standard. The cauliflower in the jar was particularly disappointing also the pickling on the salad was overpowering. It is a shame as all my other visits have been memorable

We had a lovely dinner here on Saturday night with friends and it was a wonderful evening. The service was really good and not over bearing, we got some excellent advice on wine and food. Everything we ate was delicious and the string concept works really well. Also the tables are far enough apart that you don't feel hemmed in and there was no loud music drowning us out but they did have a brilliant playlist in the background.

Excellent food in an attractive environment. We especially enjoyed the hot sticks and veg dishes (even though we are meat eaters). Not an inexpensive night out but we would return for the innovative food and drinks.

We got a table at the bar and the staff was amazing, they even introduced us to their drink prepared for a competition. The food is a mix of Nordic, Asian and Mediterranean influence and nicely presented with great taste included. We will return!
