This magical Edwardian building has been transformed to a beautiful bar, restaurant and private room where we hope to deliver to our customers an experience you won’t find anywhere else in Newcastle.
Join us to dine in our elegant brasserie which aims to serve classic dishes, including a generous Sunday lunch, using the very best ingredients with plenty of flavor but no fuss or in the bar for some light bites and fantastic drinks curated by a team of some of Newcastle best mixologists.
Above all we want you to relax, enjoy the music and feel at home here at Hibou Blanc.
Please note our bar operates on a walk-in only basis, and you can book our main restaurant to enjoy both our lunch and our a la carte menu. When joining for Afternoon Tea please state this in your booking notes.

I had a booking to join a friend whose train was very late. The staff were incredibly accommodating and flexible. They helped us both order before she arrived and before the kitchen closed. The service (thanks Becky and Ellie!) was impeccable. The bar staff made perfect margaritas. We had steak and it was perfectly cooked. Our starters were delicious (cheese souffle and cauliflower soup), and the wine was excellent. We were so grateful to the staff and pleased with our experience. I have already recommended Hibou Blanc to a friend who lives permanently in Newcastle.

An immaculate restaurant, service was OK - just, waited over 20 minutes for our first course to be served.

We'd booked a table for Sunday Lunch at 3.30pm. When we were shown to the table we were informed that the chicken was finished as was the cauliflower cheese. My husband doesn't eat red meat so the only other option was the salmon. There were only 2 sides on offer, carrots or cauliflower cheese! I ordered North Sea fishcake to start & my husband opted for the Sole Goujons. The waitress then returned to say that the Goujons were off. My husband ordered the fishcake instead. When the fishcakes came they had salmon in them. I don’t like salmon & didn’t expect the ‘North Sea’ fishcake to contain salmon. My husband obviously wouldn’t have chosen that as he was having salmon for his main course. Things went from bad to worse when I got a metallic taste in my mouth & discovered a piece of wire in it. This obviously put us both off the starters completely. We notified the manageress who did take the starters off the bill but this didn’t seem to be a very good gesture. It is a pity because the restaurant itself is lovely. However, after this experience we would not dine here again.

Excellent service, cocktails and food. Very pleasant staff who are friendly and keen to make your experience enjoyable. The only downside is that the background music is just too loud. Eating here is a sociable occasion and you want to be able to talk to each other at the table or in the bar. The actual music was inoffensive and pleasant but it just needs to be 'background'.

From entering to leaving the venue. Our service was faultless. From a warm welcome, to our coats being taken to be hung. The ladies knew their menu. And explained everything throughout, their was a genuine case of checking on us, rather than feeling forced alongside letting us have the time to enjoy all food, courses. The chefs also clearly know their steaks and how to cook to your liking. The thing about good food is it has to be both portion controlled mixed with the perfect flavour. In their lies your value. So you never feel shortchanged. Because more doesnt necessarily always mean better. As flavour was super. Next time we will stay longer for drinks. Nice work team all round. Bonus the ambience was just right. Light tones good. Music at a well volume. Clear care has been made in all areas.

My friend and I had a great evening last night in Hibou Blanc. French martinis as a pre-dinner drink and then we both chose from set menu. Cheese soufflee starter and pork main were particularly great. Good choice of wines at reasonable prices too. Service and atmosphere were excellent. So good, in fact, that we also had a few post dinner cocktails in the bar ...... highly recommend. We'll be back!
