As a resident of the Asheville area, I was excited to return back downtown for a night out to celebrate my anniversary. I walk into Hemingway's to walk past a breakfast buffet line pre-set for the next morning. Then notice only walk-up service at the bar. After further investigation, we found out their menu was limited to only a handful of bar items. We promptly walked out!! This was not going to be where we celebrated our anniversary! We were disappointed their website didn't acknowledge their minimum menu or service options. Very disappointing and not what we expected for such a 'usually" quality establishment. Be honest with us, please.

I have been to Hemmingways in the past and it has been excellent. However this time was not as expected. When I booked the reservation for a party there was no mention of this restaurant not being fully operational. I wish they had been more transparent on the website as to how they were functioning post Helene. The food was not great and the menu limited however the prices have stayed the same or risen. I hope to return to this restaurant once Asheville gets water back on and they are at 100%

We had the Tostones appetizer platter, which was plenty to split four ways before our dinner, and was very unique and tasty. The Cubano sandwich was fantastic. My husband enjoyed the ceviche and a friend enjoyed the Arroz con Pollo (huge portion). I had the Garden Grove cocktail, which was good, but mostly I just tasted cucumber. My friends had the Hemingway Sunset, which unfortunately neither one of them loved. We’ve been here previously when it was quite crowded and loud, but on a Monday evening, it was almost empty. Because it had just rained, we opted to sit inside and ended up at a booth. The one downside to our experiences was that the overall temperature in the restaurant was quite warm and sitting in that elevated booth directly under the bright lights made it uncomfortably hot and bright. I wish there had been away to turn the lights down or off. I actually had to get up from the table and go outside to cool off at one point.

Views were amazing. Service was alow despite only 4 tables used in patio. Food was average, we went to brunch

Fun night out. Outside was lovely with Cuban dj. Loved the vibe. Just loud for dining. But super fun. Emily our waitress was Amazing.

Meh. We ate here because we were staying at the Cambria and it seemed convenient to check it out. While the rooftop views were great, the food itself was a bit lacking. We didn't order anything spectacular but it was mediocre at best. The chicken empanadas needed more flavor. The ham croquettes tasted like we were just biting into mush. The home fries were the best part of the hemingway breakfast.

Lovely views & good food. The Hemingway tacos were great! Would be very helpful to have a pull down shade for the outdoor tables-while the sun is directly on faces. Several people were complaining about how painful it was to have the sun directly in your face while trying to eat or have a conversation -as it’s setting. once it set, it was comfortable & lovely.

The Vaca Fritas is delicious! We enjoyed the food and drinks and especially loved the sunset view.

I am Cuban and cook Cuban food regularly. Ten years ago when I moved to Asheville I tried Hemingway’s and was delighted. The food was tasty and authentic and I sent lots of folks to try it out. Fast forward to now…the dining experience was disappointing at best. The camarones appetizer was the only part of the meal worth discussing. The bistec was tasteless and overcooked, the plaintains so so and the congri bland. What a shame. The specialty drinks were good but could be less pricey. I think the selling point of the place now is…go for the view and a drink then head elsewhere for dinner.
