We are a Laotian restaurant in the heart of the neighborhood of Shaw. Baan Mae means Mom's house in Laotian. Chef Seng of Thip Khao and Padaek is serving up dishes reminiscent of her home kitchen and her mother's kitchen.

Mom's House Reservation Policy:

All reservations are allowed a 15-minute grace period.

All parties must be present at the restaurant to be seated. If parties are incomplete by the end of the 15-minute grace period, the reservation may be moved to the waitlist upon the completion of the party.

Reservation wait times may be impacted in the case of rain or heat advisory as we will do our best to accommodate patio reservations indoors.

Due to our limited seating capacity, all reservations are limited to a maximum of 90-minute seating time and 2 hours for large parties of 5+.

    Excellent food and service. Just wish they had a few more vegetarian entree options. Very authentic and will definitely be back!

    Baan Mae was incredible. Our waiter guided us through the menu and made wonderful recommendations for what to eat. We shared 5 appetizers in order to try many different items, and there was not a single dish we didn’t enjoy. The staff and service was incredibly kind and warm. Will be coming here again!

    Amazing, as always! The staff are amazing and know the menu very well. The pop-up experience was fun and unique!

    The sakoo was so good. Tapioca rice nature with chili pepper and crushed wrapped in lettuce. So good. Definitely order that as a starter

    Fantastic combination of wonderful food and super friendly staff. We do not live in DC but frequent Baan Mae every time we visit.

    Great restaurant! The service was excellent and all the food was delicious!! Highly recommend the mun falang starter and the gaeng phed curry with crab. Sooo good!!
