We are a Laotian restaurant in the heart of the neighborhood of Shaw. Baan Mae means Mom's house in Laotian. Chef Seng of Thip Khao and Padaek is serving up dishes reminiscent of her home kitchen and her mother's kitchen.

    The food here is so delicious and flavorful! Drinks are incredible too. The staff were so lovely and attentive. My housemates and I are so glad that their patio feels secluded from all the bustle of Shaw, so I highly recommend Baan Mae for anyone who isn't dining indoors due to COVID.

    Amazing food and presentation. Was extremely impressed by the vibrant and complex flavors of each and every item ordered! Gluten free items easily marked and made without modification, which is always a delight!

    My group of 4 sat at the bar and were served on by the lovely Julia. The food was sooo yummy and every dish we tried was so different from the one before. I loved the energy of the restaurant and extremely kind staff. Stand out dishes were the Bronzino, crab curry chowder and the chicken wings!

    Baan Mae is a very awesome place. The art and decor are fantastic. The staff were really awesome. I love the food, but its slightly expensive for how much you get. I wish they made their portions slightly better.

    Fabulous new addition to the DC dining scene. The dishes are cozy and comforting but elevated and pop with flavors and texture. Service was so friendly and clearly has a passion for the food. Very cute and the back patio is great!
