Hayden Block Smoke & Whiskey is a bbq joint in the heart of Kensington, Calgary, Alberta. Smoking our meat from 10-14 hours, people love our brisket but we have a selection of meats, trays and sides to choose from. Join us inside or out if the weather permits, or on our backyard whiskey garden open year round. Drinkwise we’ve got the largest whiskey list in town, and an ever-evolving cocktail list anchored by our smokey old-fashioned. We’ve also got a bunch of beer on tap, with some local favourites and international selects.

When i placed the booking I was ask if this was a special occasion, and yes it was a birthday dinner. I ask as well for a special seating area, but unfortunately the seating area was closed and this was not communicated before, what would be nice to know prior arrival. Nobody ask the question if this is a birthday or who’s birthday it was. A little disappointing. The service at the table from the waitress was great, but the food was a little bit on the dry side.

Best BBQ joint in town! Hands down. Could of used more attention from the server as she seemed to be Mia for long lengths of time. But, that won't deter us from coming back.

This is our second time to Hayden Block and it was just as amazing the second time. It's very rare we find a restaurant that my littles also like more than just chicken fingers, but this place does that! They had the brisket tacos and the bacon Mac and cheese and ate as much as their little bellies could handle! Top notch service, delicious drinks and spectacular menu options! 10/10!

Amazing brisket without a doubt. The cornbread was too dry, the coleslaw basic. Great smoked old fashioned.

It was extremely loud I could not hear my husband across the table. I didn't like that we had to sit with strangers at the same table. I took my husband out for dinner and was expecting a more intimate setting.

Great food and drinks, was upstairs with the live music. Very good but a bit loud if you wanted to chat.

We enjoyed the food. It was fresh and delicious. The service was outstanding and the server was very friendly. We sat on the patio and loved the atmosphere on Kensington Road. The only major downside was the music. It was way too loud, even outside. Inside it was even worse. It was hard to have a proper conversation at the table. If you are looking for a quiet spot, this restaurant is not for you.

Good atmosphere, great service, but the bbq was average at best. Dry pulled pork, barely any smoke flavour. Very disappointing food, but everything else is great.
