Located in the heart of Gramercy in the restored Assembly Hall of the landmarked United Charities Building, Hawksmoor is a steak restaurant that celebrates all-natural, pasture-reared, and traditionally dry-aged beef. Our beef is seasoned simply with sea salt and cooked over live-fire charcoal. Our seafood is locally and sustainably sourced from northeastern waters and we use small-farm produce whenever possible. On Sunday afternoons Hawksmoor keeps with the tried-and-true British tradition and features a Sunday Roast.

Completing our offerings are award-winning cocktails, including New York City's coldest martini, and a carefully curated wine selection. The restaurant houses 150 in the dining room and 35 in the bar area. There are also two private dining rooms that can hold 12 people and serve exclusive, family-style menus.

Sunday Roast

Sundays at Hawksmoor are all about our Sunday Roast: all-natural, dry-aged, slow-roasted Rump served with crispy beef dripping potatoes, Caraflax cabbage and carrots, gigantic Yorkshire puddings, lashings of bone marrow & onion gravy and the option for a side of cauliflower cheese or slow-roasted bone marrow and onions. Sunday Roast dates back to the 15th century where large joints of meat were roasted on a spit over an open fire; to achieve a similar flavor, we start ours on our charcoal grill and finish them in the oven. Many who've had a Sunday Roast equate it to a Thanksgiving dinner – a comforting, filling meal that is best in the company of loved ones. And, should a Bloody Mary, or two, be consumed alongside it, who are we to judge?

Service was great! Sunday Roast meal was slightly cold and tasted as if it had been sitting awhile, though. Overall a good experience.

A great looking place with very good food and service. The only negative is the noise level -- it's so loud you have to almost shout to be heard by people in your own party. The other tables must feel that way too, so everyone speaks loudly, which creates a deafening din. When we left and went out into the street, it felt like silence.

What a lovely room, but SO Loud, there is nothing in the restaurant that absorbs the cacophony of sound. Aside from this, Vinny was a really good server. We enjoyed the half lobster appetizer, the steelhead carpaccio, filet mignon and the Steak Diane. The Diane was overrated, the mushroom gravy was tasty but the steak was okay. The beef fat fries, YUM! The Peanut Butter Louie OMG! Will be making the Cherry Negroni at home!

Food was outstanding and service was impeccable. Magnificent space too. Definitely very loud inside, can’t be helped. Can’t wait to return.
