Located in the heart of Gramercy in the restored Assembly Hall of the landmarked United Charities Building, Hawksmoor is a steak restaurant that celebrates all-natural, pasture-reared, and traditionally dry-aged beef. Our beef is seasoned simply with sea salt and cooked over live-fire charcoal. Our seafood is locally and sustainably sourced from northeastern waters and we use small-farm produce whenever possible. On Sunday afternoons Hawksmoor keeps with the tried-and-true British tradition and features a Sunday Roast.

Completing our offerings are award-winning cocktails, including New York City's coldest martini, and a carefully curated wine selection. The restaurant houses 150 in the dining room and 35 in the bar area. There are also two private dining rooms that can hold 12 people and serve exclusive, family-style menus.

Sunday Roast

Sundays at Hawksmoor are all about our Sunday Roast: all-natural, dry-aged, slow-roasted Rump served with crispy beef dripping potatoes, Caraflax cabbage and carrots, gigantic Yorkshire puddings, lashings of bone marrow & onion gravy and the option for a side of cauliflower cheese or slow-roasted bone marrow and onions. Sunday Roast dates back to the 15th century where large joints of meat were roasted on a spit over an open fire; to achieve a similar flavor, we start ours on our charcoal grill and finish them in the oven. Many who've had a Sunday Roast equate it to a Thanksgiving dinner – a comforting, filling meal that is best in the company of loved ones. And, should a Bloody Mary, or two, be consumed alongside it, who are we to judge?

Food and service were very good but it’s a very large room so very very noisy. I prefer smaller, cozier and quiet. But if you like a loud bustling place, this could be for you.

So delicious and fantastic service! Can’t wait to return ! I would totally recommend it for meat eaters and martini lovers.

Great ambiance, excellent service, but as someone who can cook I cannot see the value of a steak meak for this price. Also the drinks are very small.

Sunday Roast is an experience everyone should try. It’s fantastic. Also the Bloody Mary is totally yummy.

The best place to get a traditional British Roast on Sunday. Amazing food, wonderful friendly and generous service, and beautiful atmosphere.

Most of the dishes were very good, but the main course was a strip steak that our group shared, and it was not good at all. The steak we picked on the menu was a NY strip steak (14 oz, $68), and when we ordered we asked our waitress if she thought we had enough food. She said it was a little light, so we discussed whether we should get a second steak. She offered to find us a slightly bigger 20oz one instead, we said OK. The medium-rare steak we ordered came out medium-well, pretty much ruined. We ate most of it anyway and didn’t say anything because we had to leave for a show and they wouldn’t have had time to re-make it. But then the bill came, and we saw that for the extra 6 ounces they charged us $60, which is WAY more expensive than any cut on the menu. The whole thing felt very dishonest—we would have just ordered a second steak for about the same price if we had known. We ended up eating a terrible $128 New York strip steak. Disappointing.

Excellent food but expensive Wine list good but least expensive wine was 90 Dollars ! We were there to celebrate two significant Birthdays on the night an we were disappointed that this wasn’t recognised.
