Located in the heart of Gramercy in the restored Assembly Hall of the landmarked United Charities Building, Hawksmoor is a steak restaurant that celebrates all-natural, pasture-reared, and traditionally dry-aged beef. Our beef is seasoned simply with sea salt and cooked over live-fire charcoal. Our seafood is locally and sustainably sourced from northeastern waters and we use small-farm produce whenever possible. On Sunday afternoons Hawksmoor keeps with the tried-and-true British tradition and features a Sunday Roast.

Completing our offerings are award-winning cocktails, including New York City's coldest martini, and a carefully curated wine selection. The restaurant houses 150 in the dining room and 35 in the bar area. There are also two private dining rooms that can hold 12 people and serve exclusive, family-style menus.

Sunday Roast

Sundays at Hawksmoor are all about our Sunday Roast: all-natural, dry-aged, slow-roasted Rump served with crispy beef dripping potatoes, Caraflax cabbage and carrots, gigantic Yorkshire puddings, lashings of bone marrow & onion gravy and the option for a side of cauliflower cheese or slow-roasted bone marrow and onions. Sunday Roast dates back to the 15th century where large joints of meat were roasted on a spit over an open fire; to achieve a similar flavor, we start ours on our charcoal grill and finish them in the oven. Many who've had a Sunday Roast equate it to a Thanksgiving dinner – a comforting, filling meal that is best in the company of loved ones. And, should a Bloody Mary, or two, be consumed alongside it, who are we to judge?

Truly great experience! Took my out-of-town visitors to try out a new steakhouse and everyone was super impressed! Great selection of steaks, superb quality and all done to perfection. Cannot recommend enough! Prices were also very good value! We’ve tried many different steakhouses and this was is by far the best! Will definitely return again!

I've been to many steakhouses in NYC, and Hawksmoor was definitely one of the top ones if not the top one. I had the rib eye and my wife had the porterhouse. Both were cooked perfectly and were amazing.

It was packed on a Wednesday night and so our seating for a party of 3 was slightly delayed. That said the steaks were memorable, and the service was fantastic.

Excellent food, but honestly we were sold a 34 ounce steak and it was closer to perhaps 20. Sorry but the bone was small. I have eaten here a fair amount and tout the place (and have eaten at the UK outposts). The steak was not near the size. Just was not. And we politely raised it and it was never really dealt with. Our waiter also seemed well intentioned, but uninformed and uninterested. This is an amazing place, but not its best night.

It was my friend's first time at Hawksmoor, last night, and you've got another fan! We did wait longer than expected to order our meals, but it was busy, the food and drinks were worth the wait! Everything we ordered, from starter to main, ranks in 'best we've ever had' territory; it's just a shame we couldnt make room for desert - I'll save the toffee pudding for a future visit!

It’s a beautiful dining space & that’s about where it ends. Due a gas leak today, only half the menu was available (out of their control) however had we been contacted by email or text that there was a limited menu, we probably would’ve reconsidered dining there tonight. Our server was great however the food came before the wine, we had to ask for additional wine which ended up arriving once our meal was finished. Note to staff not to clear plates until all guests have finished their meals. Overall a pretty disappointing experience, particularly given the price point.

We had a great dining experience here. We were celebrating my dads birthday and it was the perfect spot. The food was delicious but the service is what really set it apart. Our waiter, Robbie, made this a very special night for us! Will be back!

Wow. You guys took ABUSE BY HOSTESS to a whole new level! After the recent debacle when your girls refused to seat me at a table for TWO "because we only seat full parties" (which is absurd) and made me pace the lobby for 15 minutes (they offered to have a manager EXPLAIN the policy to me....I said that I understood EXACTLY what they were doing) before finally seating me WITHOUT my guest--breaking the "policy"-- (who arrived a few minutes later)...this time you really outdid yourselves. I checked in with the pretty Indian hostess who said she was going to check on my table and zoomed away. She seated other parties in front of me and never made eye contact, never said a word to me, zooming by me at least three times. My reservation was for 8:15. I got there at 8:15 and my friend arrived TWELVE minutes late, well within the 15 minute grace period all restaurants have. We were not seated until 8:47. But I had to repeatedly TACKLE managers in the hallway to make this happen. No hostess spoke to me. I even got scolded by a manager for being "late"...probably what the hostesses told him. Once seated, the waiters were great and the food was delicious. Some tragedy happened with lobster #1 so we had to wait a long time for lobster #2 but that was fine. I am AA "always accommodate" at Balthazar and Pastis and they treat me like a KING. I always get the best banquettes, they seat my friend if she gets there before me, etc. I choose restaurants based on how I'm treated. You food IS better than Keith's BUT why would you embarrass and humiliate a regular customer twice in a row? I also think the Indian girl was getting back at me for reporting her rudeness last time. That is really out of control. Oh yes, and the short Black girl who was at the hostess station told me "I'M NOT A HOSTESS...I'm just standing here!" You need to have a chat with your girls. Seating guests should be about HOSPITALITY, not about what is convenient for the hostesses! Madness!
