Located in the heart of Gramercy in the restored Assembly Hall of the landmarked United Charities Building, Hawksmoor is a steak restaurant that celebrates all-natural, pasture-reared, and traditionally dry-aged beef. Our beef is seasoned simply with sea salt and cooked over live-fire charcoal. Our seafood is locally and sustainably sourced from northeastern waters and we use small-farm produce whenever possible. On Sunday afternoons Hawksmoor keeps with the tried-and-true British tradition and features a Sunday Roast.

Completing our offerings are award-winning cocktails, including New York City's coldest martini, and a carefully curated wine selection. The restaurant houses 150 in the dining room and 35 in the bar area. There are also two private dining rooms that can hold 12 people and serve exclusive, family-style menus.

Sundays at Hawksmoor are all about our Sunday Roast: all-natural, dry-aged, slow-roasted Rump served with crispy beef dripping potatoes, Caraflax cabbage and carrots, gigantic Yorkshire puddings, lashings of bone marrow & onion gravy and the option for a side of cauliflower cheese or slow-roasted bone marrow and onions. Sunday Roast dates back to the 15th century where large joints of meat were roasted on a spit over an open fire; to achieve a similar flavor, we start ours on our charcoal grill and finish them in the oven. Many who've had a Sunday Roast equate it to a Thanksgiving dinner – a comforting, filling meal that is best in the company of loved ones. And, should a Bloody Mary, or two, be consumed alongside it, who are we to judge?

Our servers were fantastic. The wait for food was a bit ridiculous. For lunch we were there for two hours. They did acknowledge this and take an appetizer off, which was acceptable and great of them. Food was very good. Will return.

Great experience once again. Was seated right away though my guest was 5 min late. Thanks...it's important to me not to have to wait in the corridor for a "full party." Had the steak frites lunch which was excellent. We shared the lobster mac and cheese...delicious...cocktails were amazing as usual. Service was A+ Love that room! I will be back. I had a great time with my date. Thank you!!!!!

Attentive service, good appetizers & desserts, and lovely cocktails don’t make up for overcooked steak and bland wine - unforgivable failures for a supposedly top-notch steak restaurant. Over 75% of our “medium rare” rib-eye was cooked at least medium - no pink at all. For wine we asked for a special bottle with a specific profile. The sommelier’s recommendation was for a bottle that exactly fit our ask but came at a high price point (most of the way down the list). Unfortunately the bottle didn’t come close to what was promised, completely lacking the flavor notes we were hoping for. If we spent 10x less buying this bottle in a wine shop we would still be disappointed. We have been to Hawksmoor several times in London and New York and this was the first time we’ve had this sort of let down, but we would think twice before returning after this experience

The food was ok like regular steak house the service was so so we ordered dessert and haven’t get it yet and the server dropped off the check to the table already.

My husband and I recently visited Hawksmoor to celebrate the holiday season. After ordering Champagne and getting about halfway through the glasses, the server asked if we were ready to order. We tried to order appetizers first and were informed that our entire order had to go in. After requesting another moment to decide, the server didn’t return for fifteen minutes. It was forty-five minutes before any food came to our table. I should note that the restaurant was not full at this point. The oysters, pork belly, and macaroni and cheese were fantastic, but the rest of the food wasn’t up to the quality we've enjoyed here in the past - our steak wasn’t very flavorful and the beef fat fries looked and tasted anemic. Additionally, the wait staff generally seemed out of sorts. Every restaurant can have an off day, but when customers are dropping hundreds of dollars on lunch, they have a right to expect -and receive - impeccable service and quality. We’ve been to Hawksmoor in London many times and have always had good experiences. In the past, we've also had good experiences at the New York location. As I say, perhaps this was just an off day. I hope so, as I'd very much like to come back and give a better review.

So wonderful - have been wanting to try ever since we went to one of the locations in London. Everything was so delicious and the staff was very hospitable.
