Located in the heart of Gramercy in the restored Assembly Hall of the landmarked United Charities Building, Hawksmoor is a steak restaurant that celebrates all-natural, pasture-reared, and traditionally dry-aged beef. Our beef is seasoned simply with sea salt and cooked over live-fire charcoal. Our seafood is locally and sustainably sourced from northeastern waters and we use small-farm produce whenever possible. On Sunday afternoons Hawksmoor keeps with the tried-and-true British tradition and features a Sunday Roast.

Completing our offerings are award-winning cocktails, including New York City's coldest martini, and a carefully curated wine selection. The restaurant houses 150 in the dining room and 35 in the bar area. There are also two private dining rooms that can hold 12 people and serve exclusive, family-style menus.

Sunday Roast

Sundays at Hawksmoor are all about our Sunday Roast: all-natural, dry-aged, slow-roasted Rump served with crispy beef dripping potatoes, Caraflax cabbage and carrots, gigantic Yorkshire puddings, lashings of bone marrow & onion gravy and the option for a side of cauliflower cheese or slow-roasted bone marrow and onions. Sunday Roast dates back to the 15th century where large joints of meat were roasted on a spit over an open fire; to achieve a similar flavor, we start ours on our charcoal grill and finish them in the oven. Many who've had a Sunday Roast equate it to a Thanksgiving dinner – a comforting, filling meal that is best in the company of loved ones. And, should a Bloody Mary, or two, be consumed alongside it, who are we to judge?

this was my 2nd time at Hawksmoor. great food/service/ambience as last time. of course you need to be prepared for a pricey meal this being one of the more high end steak houses in NYC.

recently brought a group of business clients to this restaurant for a dinner, and unfortunately, the experience did not meet expectations. While the atmosphere and service were acceptable, the quality of the food was underwhelming. Specifically, the steaks were just average and not up to the standards I’ve previously experienced here. My clients were quite disappointed with the meal, which affected the overall impression of the evening. I had hoped for a more impressive dining experience, especially given this was a business event. I hope the restaurant addresses these issues moving forward, as it has potential but didn’t deliver this time.

I love Sunday roast when I’m in London and hoped this would match up—it does! Perfect rare roast and gorgeous Yorkshire pudding. Can’t wait to come back!

Carlos was an excellent waiter. The food and drinks were outstanding. The restaurant dining room is magnificent. Loved the whole experience. The Sunday Roast is a must have. Can't wait to go back for dinner.

Great room and accommodating staff made for an awesome dinner. Martinis were on point and the steaks, oysters and sliders were delicious.

Food was less than impressive. Everything tasted pre made and warmed up. Tartare were warm and lacked citrus. Steak was dry.

Very nice staff. Ceaser salad dressing was tasteless despite all ingredients being of the best quality. Chateaubrion was excellent while the prime rib at 110 dollars with tax and tip was small and had the consistency cardboard as though it was left over from the night before and heated in a microwave. Think Holiday Inn in the Midwest.
