Located in the heart of Gramercy in the restored Assembly Hall of the landmarked United Charities Building, Hawksmoor is a steak restaurant that celebrates all-natural, pasture-reared, and traditionally dry-aged beef. Our beef is seasoned simply with sea salt and cooked over live-fire charcoal. Our seafood is locally and sustainably sourced from northeastern waters and we use small-farm produce whenever possible. On Sunday afternoons Hawksmoor keeps with the tried-and-true British tradition and features a Sunday Roast.

Completing our offerings are award-winning cocktails, including New York City's coldest martini, and a carefully curated wine selection. The restaurant houses 150 in the dining room and 35 in the bar area. There are also two private dining rooms that can hold 12 people and serve exclusive, family-style menus.

Sunday Roast

Sundays at Hawksmoor are all about our Sunday Roast: all-natural, dry-aged, slow-roasted Rump served with crispy beef dripping potatoes, Caraflax cabbage and carrots, gigantic Yorkshire puddings, lashings of bone marrow & onion gravy and the option for a side of cauliflower cheese or slow-roasted bone marrow and onions. Sunday Roast dates back to the 15th century where large joints of meat were roasted on a spit over an open fire; to achieve a similar flavor, we start ours on our charcoal grill and finish them in the oven. Many who've had a Sunday Roast equate it to a Thanksgiving dinner – a comforting, filling meal that is best in the company of loved ones. And, should a Bloody Mary, or two, be consumed alongside it, who are we to judge?

I love London’s several Hawksmoors, and couldn’t wait to try out the one in Manhattan. The service was excellent, attentive and swift. The cocktails were good. Unfortunately my rib eye steak was served very rare rather than medium as requested. The steak itself was gristly with too much fat. The Bordeaux was served well below room temperature. Our server offered to redo the steak, but that would have meant my guest eating first, with me following later. To be worth the very high prices, this branch of Hawksmoor needs to provide steaks cooked to the diner’s request, and wine served at the correct temperature. If it hadn’t have been for our server, who was excellent, I would have returned the steak and the wine. Not up to Hawksmoor’s usual standards.

It was great! The service and staff were amazing and the food was incredible. Also highly recommend the ginger cocktail it was fire. Only thing is my steak was overcooked by a good bit but the than that was great!

This Ribeye was one of the best I’ve ever tasted! The bone marrow & onions was fantastic and so was our staff person Adele! Thank you Hawksmoor NYC for making our visit to New York extra special!

Delicious cuts of steak!!! Be sure to save room for the sticky toffee pudding. I will keep coming back here each time I visit NYC. My server has very lovely and attentive.
