Located in the heart of Gramercy in the restored Assembly Hall of the landmarked United Charities Building, Hawksmoor is a steak restaurant that celebrates all-natural, pasture-reared, and traditionally dry-aged beef. Our beef is seasoned simply with sea salt and cooked over live-fire charcoal. Our seafood is locally and sustainably sourced from northeastern waters and we use small-farm produce whenever possible. On Sunday afternoons Hawksmoor keeps with the tried-and-true British tradition and features a Sunday Roast.

Completing our offerings are award-winning cocktails, including New York City's coldest martini, and a carefully curated wine selection. The restaurant houses 150 in the dining room and 35 in the bar area. There are also two private dining rooms that can hold 12 people and serve exclusive, family-style menus.

Sundays at Hawksmoor are all about our Sunday Roast: all-natural, dry-aged, slow-roasted Rump served with crispy beef dripping potatoes, Caraflax cabbage and carrots, gigantic Yorkshire puddings, lashings of bone marrow & onion gravy and the option for a side of cauliflower cheese or slow-roasted bone marrow and onions. Sunday Roast dates back to the 15th century where large joints of meat were roasted on a spit over an open fire; to achieve a similar flavor, we start ours on our charcoal grill and finish them in the oven. Many who've had a Sunday Roast equate it to a Thanksgiving dinner – a comforting, filling meal that is best in the company of loved ones. And, should a Bloody Mary, or two, be consumed alongside it, who are we to judge?

Food was great. The staff was friendly but they get so busy that I don’t think they can cope. Waited like half an hour for my booked table to be ready. Then ordered steak took about 40min to cook. I will come back again as the steak was delicious, but I will pick less busy time

While rated 3 stars, I would really put this in the middle at 2.5 if I could. Having never dined here, I was excited to try it. Unfortunately, I probably won’t return. Despite having a reservation during the week at a reasonable time, I had to wait 20 minutes for a table. Hey, things happen so I get it. As I was shown to my table, I could not help but notice how loud it was in the dining room. It’s a nice space but conversation was near impossible with how loud it was. Cocktails were very good. I had the Caesar salad (under seasoned) filet mignon (nicely cooked) and beef fat fries (perfectly adequate). On the menu, certain steaks are priced per ounce which is very different. The problem is there is a minimum ounce order per cut, and this makes it untenable to order unless you are sharing. Even if you are sharing, at $5 and $6 an ounce, it would be quite expensive. The service was very good but I had three or four different people help me which led to multiple people asking me if I needed something despite having told the prior person. In sum, it’s just not a place I see myself returning to although I am sure plenty of people will find it quite enjoyable. Good luck.

We attempted to try their 25$ hamburger special and ended up spending $500+ for dinner (on our own accord) because the special was ‘sold out’. We were a group of 4 celebrating a birthday and engagement who decided to splurge. The 130$ steak yielded 2 bite size pieces of meat per person. Each appetizer - one bite per person. We were immensely dissatisfied at the portion sizes and once we mentioned something to our waitress, the manager came over and offered to produce 3 more of the ‘sold out’ burgers right as we decided to call it a night (almost adding insult to injury). The child sized portions of food we received were great and the service from our waitress was great - the overall experience was not so great. We left hungry and dissatisfied.

Kelsey was a phenomenal waiter. She was knowledgeable of the menu and gave great suggestions. The food was cooked well and came out hot and timely. It was hard not to keep adding items while looking around at what was coming from the kitchen. Will be back for more soon.

Service is mediocre, our waiter didn’t even ask us about the sauce options for the steaks even after we placed our orders. We had to chase him down to for the order request. He often seemed impatient and never refill our water at all. The food is lackluster and the overall portions are very small for the hefty price. The quality of the steaks are mediocre at best, and definitely not on par with the high price. I certainly would not recommend it.

Although there seemed to be lots of help, it seemed to take a very long time to give our order and even longer to get our food and drinks. The Special martini was not special. It was cold but had none of the promised cache that was on the website. Both steaks were undercooked, one substantially. When it was sent back, it reappeared totally well done and almost inedible. They were out of bread (it was only 7:15pm) and they were out of the reasonably priced wine that we requested. The creamed spinach had an off flavor to it. Overall, our waiter tried hard, but seemed inexperienced and over his head. We will not be going back.

Overall a great dinner at Hawksmoor but we did receive a steak that was chewy, no marbling and not expected of the cut we ordered. For the price I would anticipate this being caught by the chef before coming out. They did correct this error promptly though without any fuss. The dining area is beautiful (reminiscent of grand central station) but very loud and noisy. Our server really made our night, thanks Evan! Do yourself a favor and order the sticky toffee pudding... you won't regret it.

Really over priced for value. Our waiter switched in middle of service. Certainly not enough food. They just dropped off food and no explanation of anything - kind of cafeteria style. Ordered wine, no sommelier to come and explain and help pair. Hoping for different experience than London version. After $800 meal went for a burger elsewhere. Really odd for what the ‘influencers’ said. Maybe next time I should post a video for better explanation.
