Located in the heart of Gramercy in the restored Assembly Hall of the landmarked United Charities Building, Hawksmoor is a steak restaurant that celebrates all-natural, pasture-reared, and traditionally dry-aged beef. Our beef is seasoned simply with sea salt and cooked over live-fire charcoal. Our seafood is locally and sustainably sourced from northeastern waters and we use small-farm produce whenever possible. On Sunday afternoons Hawksmoor keeps with the tried-and-true British tradition and features a Sunday Roast.

Completing our offerings are award-winning cocktails, including New York City's coldest martini, and a carefully curated wine selection. The restaurant houses 150 in the dining room and 35 in the bar area. There are also two private dining rooms that can hold 12 people and serve exclusive, family-style menus.

Sunday Roast

Sundays at Hawksmoor are all about our Sunday Roast: all-natural, dry-aged, slow-roasted Rump served with crispy beef dripping potatoes, Caraflax cabbage and carrots, gigantic Yorkshire puddings, lashings of bone marrow & onion gravy and the option for a side of cauliflower cheese or slow-roasted bone marrow and onions. Sunday Roast dates back to the 15th century where large joints of meat were roasted on a spit over an open fire; to achieve a similar flavor, we start ours on our charcoal grill and finish them in the oven. Many who've had a Sunday Roast equate it to a Thanksgiving dinner – a comforting, filling meal that is best in the company of loved ones. And, should a Bloody Mary, or two, be consumed alongside it, who are we to judge?

It was always a pleasure to eat and experience the delicious food that is served. Lovely hosts and wonderful selection of dishes. Would be coming back soon.

although highly touted steak house, the steak was undercooked and tough. I've been to a lot of the top steakhouses in NYC this is not one of them

Don’t hesitate for a second! Hawksmoor was INCREDIBLE and exceeded my expectations! We took our family hear for my father’s birthday and from the appetizers to the steaks, drinks and service, this was a top experience for me in all my visits to various steakhouses. Can’t recommend the potted beef and scallops enough for appetizers and every drink we had was perfectly made. We ordered 3 filets and a ribeye with a whole lobster for the table; all were cooked truly to perfection with immense flavor and we also added the bone marrow as a side which made for a PERFECT compliment to our steaks! A must try! Truly from our waiter explaining every last detail to the amazing food across the board, I could not stop expressing to my wife how much I thoroughly loved and was blown away by Hawksmoor! In full transparency we saw the hype on TikTok and this exceeded all my expectations! Thanks again Hawksmoor for an unforgettable experience!

Gorgeous room, warm staff and pretty good food but when steak is the main event and your 10 oz filet is certainly closer to 7-8 oz there’s a little problem. The sauces for the steak were also not up to par. Everything else was flavorful and well enough prepared to justify the prices. But the noise level is the other price you pay for the acoustics that come with a beautifully box shaped room like this.

The food was amazing, the staff were very attentive. If you are wanting to have a sit down meal with friends to be able to catch up and chat…don’t come here as you won’t be able to to hear each other or alternatively you can shout across the table to each other! It’s a beautiful venue however it’s very loud as everyone is to shout over everyone else. The food is 10/10 and the staff went out their way to help with trying to find a quieter spot to eat!

Upselling is preposterous. We got 2 sauces and they brought a third - one of same already ordered. Asked if we wanted bread and brought also for an undisclosed charge. For a $500 meal, just silly.

The Sunday roast was to die for. I only regret not getting a bloody Mary as they looked amazing, I didn't notice them before. I went there for my birthday and had a really nice dessert too after

We came for the Sunday Roast experience. Unfortunately, we ordered the rib chop, rare. When the steak arrived it was very overcooked and we sent it back. It took over 35 minutes to have a new steak brought to us. We ended up filling up on all the sides and trimmings. We ended up packaging up the steak to go as by the time it arrived, we were both full. I am on the fence about returning. Overall, the food was really good, but the service timing was not good.

My favorite restaurant in NYC. Michelle and Bill, the bartenders that I know, are great! The food and drink (mixed drinks/wine options) are great.

Top quality, top service, top of it's game. Only restaurant I have ever been to who can turn a chicken into a spiritual experience. I used to come to New York to work and afterwards eat at Hawksmoor. Now I come to New York to eat there and then make a point to work.
