The LaSalle Drive Cable Car Powerhouse is a beautiful, designated landmark, initially opened in 1887, in the heyday of Chicago’s cable car system. We intend to do it justice by restoring the original features to their former glory and, at the same time, breathe new life into the space.

Our first time at Hawskmoor and we were most excited. The initial presentaion was most disapointing - the entry level bar & eating area did not at all look like an upscale steakhouse that we expected from the pre-opening press releases. The staff was casually dressed and poorly so. The bartender did not greet us when seated nor did any of the other staff behind the bar - I thought we were invisible. Our expectations improved when we were led up to a 2nd floor dining room that was much nicer. I had to carry our drinks myself until someone finally offered who I would have never guessed worked there. The evening improved as we had a great server(Craig, I think). Our entrees/sides were delicious but I did have to send my strip steak back - they remedied the situation quickly. 2 negatives regarding the food - the french fries were awful(more like Ore-ida), and the Caesar salad had a pile of shredded cheese on top, almost ruining the salad. One had to bury through the cheese to get to a fairly decent attempt at a Caesar. The "Sticky Pudding " dessert was superb. All in all, I'm guessing some of these issues are growing pains. I would go back.

We have eaten at Hawksmoor in London and they diffently compare to all aspects of London. We will go again.

Steaks, and sides were delicious. First time for bone marrow and it was really good, doesn't have great eye appeal lol...but the taste on bread or with a bite of steak was very good. Will return!

Restaurant has only been open for 2 1/2 weeks and seemed to have their act together for a new restaurant. Food was great and service was top notch.

The food is sublime, the ambience is delightful (if a little loud) and the service is great. It’s a lovely place for a splurge, because it’s pricey.

Chicago is the third Hawksmoor that we have enjoyed. We originally found them in London in 2018. Then, on trips to New York City, we found them again (Murray Hill). Hawksmoor is what I call an "experience" restaurant. The service and ambiance are as excellent as the food and drinks. Chicago is no different. I highly try the Chateaubriand! Perfection!

A welcome addition to the robust Chicago steakhouse market. The Hawksmoor food was refreshingly different (Potted beef w/onion gravy and 2 Yorkshire pudding was tasty and unexpected) and we appreciated the unique menu. Although we thoroughly enjoyed our steaks (filets presented exactly as we requested and with a lovely char) the appetizers and sides have us planning our next visit. Service was smooth and informed. Amir was attentive yet never intrusive. Our reservation was for an early Sunday seating. We enjoyed the quiet start to our dinner. The dining room is open with high ceilings and it would be understandable that the noise level "could" dampen an intimate meal. Their cocktail selection was well crafted and the wine list robust. Unlike other steakhouses, the portions aren't meant for sharing. Order several with confidence that food won't be wasted. But, be absolutely sure to leave room for the sticky toffee pudding!
