Welcome to Hawksmoor Chicago, where we bring our acclaimed steakhouse experience from the UK to the iconic LaSalle Powerhouse in River North. Our ethos is simple: ‘Buy the best and let it shine.’ We serve all-natural, pasture-reared, dry-aged beef from US family-run farms, cooked over charcoal and seasoned simply with sea salt. Our seafood, sourced from trusted Northeastern fishermen, is prepared with equal care.

In our 16,500 sq ft space, featuring barrel-vaulted ceilings and touches from the Golden Age of Travel, Hawksmoor is perfect for any occasion. Our team, led by Hawksmoor legend (and assistant general manager) Zach Ballard, has created a menu of top picks that'll hit the spot without hurting your wallet. From Steak Frites for just $25 to the Notorious B.E.E.F Burger, $2 Oysters, cocktails (all $13 or less), and even a meal deal that’ll leave you more than happy. The new Hawksmoor Happy Hour menu is available 7 days a week from 5 PM - 7 PM.
Sunday roast

Sundays at Hawksmoor are all about our Sunday Roast: all-natural, dry-aged, slow-roasted Rump served with crispy beef dripping potatoes, Caraflax cabbage and carrots, gigantic Yorkshire puddings, lashings of bone marrow & onion gravy and the option for a side of cauliflower cheese or slow-roasted bone marrow and onions. Sunday Roast dates back to the 15th century where large joints of meat were roasted on a spit over an open fire; to achieve a similar flavor, we start ours on our charcoal grill and finish them in the oven. Many who've had a Sunday Roast equate it to a Thanksgiving dinner – a comforting, filling meal that is best in the company of loved ones. And, should a Bloody Mary, or two, be consumed alongside it, who are we to judge?

It’s a simple concept: bring any wine you like – doesn’t matter if it’s a first-growth Bordeaux or a bottle of Barefoot – and we’ll only charge you $10 corkage (for up to two bottles). Not sure what to buy? Take a stroll over to our neighbors at the Aqua Wine & Spirits store (they’re literally on the other side of the street) and they’ll help you choose something to make your meal pop. You can even call us ahead of time and ask one of our somms what they suggest.

I dined with a party of seven, including one vegan, two pescatarians, and the rest carnivores. While the restaurant had a pleasant ambiance, its menu was quite restrictive. Our waitress, who was noticeably rude, informed us that all dishes—except for steaks—were premade, meaning substitutions were not an option. Most sides and cocktails contained either dairy or meat, severely limiting choices for those with dietary restrictions. As a vegan, my only options were sautéed spinach and a salad. The pescatarian entrées included monkfish and lobster. While the atmosphere was enjoyable, the unaccommodating menu and unpleasant service made it a disappointing experience for non-carnivores or those avoiding dairy.

Hawksmoor was amazing! The Hawksmoor Martini is the best martini I’ve ever had. The scallops are SO GOOD. We had the Sunday roast which was perfectly cooked (pink) and all the trimmings were delicious. Highly recommend!

Overall, the experience left my wife and I feeling unappreciated. The meal started off on a high note. The server came over quickly, was friendly, and procured our drink order with lightning speed and took our appetizer order. It was a downhill trajectory from there. It was apparent our server was VERY busy and had a large amount of tables. It took a long time, over 20 minutes for the oysters to arrive and our server did not check on us during this time. The oysters were awesome, but no attention from service. A while later our server came back and took the main order. Similar theme here, food was good, but took much longer than expected and server did not check in on us. We were on the fence about ordering deserted to the long waits and lack of attention, but decided to do so because it was my wife’s birthday. I believe an error was made in the kitchen because the table next to us received a birthday desert, and commented they were appreciative of the thought but said they did not have a birthday. Our dessert came, and again no check in from the team. We wanted to love this experience but couldn’t due to the service. We couldn’t help but compare to other Chicago steakhouse experiences where we are typically made to feel special. We just felt like a side thought here.

Cool place but just average for a Chicago steakhouse. At $160 for a bone-in chop it was overpriced and unremarkable (and no way it was 32 oz). A steakhouse has to really impress to warrant another visit. Didn’t do it for us

Enjoyed our food. Was a bit of a mix up where they forgot to include a bottle of wine on the receipt and someone, not our server, raised this after we already signed and tipped 20%+ on a $700 check. Asked for free drinks to make up for the mixup (after the 3rd receipt presented to me) and were told sternly it wasn't possible. Seems silly and we tipped less after the fact. The awkward mistake of the serving team impacted our business dinner.

Our server was very knowledgeable when giving suggestions. Lighting could have been a little better but the overall ambience was good. The drinks were phenomenal especially the one they had called the reformed pornstar

My husband and I went to the Hawksmoor to celebrate a Birthday. We had their filet mignon, which was very good. We ordered 3 sides to share. They ended up being single size sides, being quite small even for one person. They were not the typical size that we usually get when going to a steak house. They also don't bring complementary bread, so we ordered some, but it ended up that they were out of bread. The atmosphere was like an English pub, which was nice, but the restaurant was quite cold, which was uncomfortable. They only had 2 single bathrooms, unisex, and they weren't very clean.

Hi Nancy, Thanks you so much choosing us to celebrate your husbands birthday. Whilst I'm glad most aspects of your meal were enjoyable, I'm saddened to hear we didn't nail all aspects of your experience. In regards to the sides, you're right they are smaller. This is because we like people to be able order a variety without over ordering. I'm sorry if this didn't meet expectations. Regarding the bathrooms there are another two further round the corner. Regarding the cleanliness however, there is no excuse for this and I'll be sure to keep a close eye on it moving forward.
